Besides her personal beauty, what is it about Daisy that most attracts attention?

The great gatsby?

Besides her personal beauty, what is it about Daisy that most attracts attention?
The fact that she is supposedly an "angel" as compared to everyone else - she is always wearing white and trying to appear innocent/pure. It is the idea of that purity and beauty that attracts Gatsby, but unfortunately, it is an illusion. Daisy is not worthy of his attention and shows her true colors gradually over the course of the story - she is foolish, materialistic, and has no conscience (i.e. she just leaves Myrtle after hitting her).

Moral decay is a significant theme in Gatsby and Daisy is supposed to represent someone pure amongst people who are immoral.
Reply:probably her confidence. Gatsby has almost an obsession with her, causing him to relocate in a place where he knows they will meet, in fact he changes his whole lifestyle to impress her.

maybe they found true love many years ago but i also think that as she is unobtainable it makes him want her more.

i think she is like a trophy wife, beautiful, kind, very intelligent and able to speak for herself in society. towards the end of the book she also has an element of danger as we find out it was actually her who killed her husbands lover.

Hope this helps
Reply:she has the aura of charm, wealth, sophistication, grace, and aristocracy
Reply:smell and bright colors

Why does Daisy stick with Tom at the end?

(in The Great Gatsby)

why not Gatsby?

Why does Daisy stick with Tom at the end?
Tom is rich, and Tom is safe. She is very comfortable in her life, why make a change? She is as shallow as can be, and thinks only of herself. Besides, if she were to go with Gatsby, that might open up a can of worms--people might find out that she was the one driving the car. Instead, it's easier to forget she ever had feelings for him, and leave him hanging for her crime, and just carry on like nothing has happened. She still has her money, she still can do as she likes. There is no impetus for her to change any of that.
Reply:The ending of The Great Gatsby made me really depressed. I feel the same way, she should have stayed with Gatsby. The reason she doesn't is because she feels safe with Tom and he can provide for her. Even through this she was going to leave him, until Tom reveals that Gatsby is a bootlegger. She is very shallow and feels that she couldn't possibly leave her husband for a bootlegger. So she decides to stay with Tom to protect her reputation.

Pressing a gerber daisy?

will a yellow gerber daisy discolor if i try to press it and laminate it for a book mark i have done other flowers but nothing yellow so i am scared any help it is from a funeral so it is special.... thanks a mill.

Pressing a gerber daisy?
The problem you're going to have with the Gerbera daisy is that the petals easily separate from the center, which is quite dense. Yellow will get a bit of a golden brown tinge to it....You might want to consider purchasing a silica preserving agent and preserve it that way. You can usually get that at a craft store. Just follow the directions it is pretty easy.

Is the character Daisy in the novel The Great Gatsby static or dynamic?

I'm not sure because while in the begining she is weak and does what she is told and at the end she has an affair, so this could be seen as dynamic, however, you could argue she is static because in having the affair she is weak and seems to follow what ever Gatsby says. Your opinion?

Is the character Daisy in the novel The Great Gatsby static or dynamic?
Daisy is embarrassing to all women. You have already nailed it. She is both weak and strong at the same time. That is why she is Nick's downfall because he gives in to her, yet she never fully gives him everything back. She is weak for having the affair. She should have left her husband. That would maker her strong. Instead, she does what she wants while publicly staying submissive to her husband.
Reply:She's Bimbotic!!
Reply:i would say static. she never does what she realyl wants. gatsby wants to have the affair as well and she goes along. she neer stood up to her husband and allowed himt o abuse her. totally static.

Is the Daisy Red Ryder Cocking Lever Made of Plastic?

I'm Considering Buying One, and I Need to Know?

Is the Daisy Red Ryder Cocking Lever Made of Plastic?
I own two Red Ryders, one from the 1940's, which has a steel cocking lever, and a repro from the 1990s, with an aluminum lever.

I see from several other answers that Daisy has evidently gotten even cheaper lately, and seems now to be making them out of plastic. This must go right along with the modern version's weaker action springs. My vintage rifle will bust glass all day long, with every shot, while the repro won't hardly crack the same jars.
Reply:My Mom gave me one for Christmas as a kind of gag gift. It's been a lot of fun plinking off the porch. The stock is real hardwood and looks like walnut. The receiver is steel as is the barrel. The lever is some kind of cast resin I think but is pretty tough. I've put about a thousand BB's through it and it keeps going strong. The accuracy is better than I expected from a low velocity smooth bore. It's no tack driver but is at least Minute of Beer Can at 20 yards. I give it a "thumbs up."
Reply:The ones I saw at Wal-Mart at Christmas had wood stocks and forearms.

Reply:Yes it is made of plastic but thats not a problem because i had one for about 10 years and it never broke.Aw yes the classic red ryder, i knew mine so well i could hit cans from 35 yds using iron sights.Yup it shot high right so i would aim low left.A very good gun for plinking and when you grow old and have kids you can passit dow to your son.Now remember not to get confused the red ryder with the daisy buck. Also if you want the best accuracy go to gamo.comand order some steel bbs.Steel bbs are much better than lead and if you have a bb gun which has the fps to get the job done ( the red ryder does not) i highly recomend them.

Caring for a gerbera daisy?

I was just given a potted gerbera daisy and I want to keep it alive as long as I possibly can (I don't usually keep flowers very long). It sits inside under artificial light because my office has no windows. I water my plants twice a week, but I don't want to do the same with this one because I'm afraid of overwatering it. Would once a week be ok? And will it still thrive under the artificial light?

Caring for a gerbera daisy?
The Gerbera is an annual, so it has a growing seaon then dies back, but don't throw it out! It will return year after year. After it's finished blooming (it can bloom for quite a while in ideal conditions; you can plant it in your yard and it will come back.

Average Water Needs; Water regularly; do not overwater. Requires consistently moist soil; do not let dry out between waterings
Reply:Gerbs are extremely sensitive to bacteria, which causes their stems to bend. Watering once a week should be just fine. Though if you find the soil to be a little dry, another watering won't hurt it. Remember to always use fresh, clean water. The artificial light from your office is perfect, since gerbs are sensitive and don't do well in direct sunlight or heat. Also, try to keep your flowers away from any drafts, as they are sensitive to these as well.

Try to keep your gerbera daisy plant free and clean of dust!

If you would like to prolong your gerbs life even more, you could always purchase a flower preservative (ex. aquaplus). Preservatives provide flowers with nutrients and helps prevent against bacteria.

Also, if you ever choose to cut and vase your gerbs -- make sure to thoroughly clean the vase and keep the water clean and fresh. If your daisies start to bend, clean the vase, change the water, and re-cut the stems.
Reply:gerberas are so touchy. water it when the soil seems dry. once a week should be ok since it's inside. if you have a window in your office, put it as close as you can to it. a shot of miracle grow once in a while would be good.

What is the characterization of Daisy in The Great Gatsby in chaper 1?

Daisy is greedy and somewhat conniving, certainly selfish. She is superficial, without too much in the way of morals, and attracted to money. When I read the book in class, we did an analysis of character names. Daisy is kind of like the flower, we said. Think of the white petals and the yellow center. She dresses in white and seems very pretty and innocent on the outside. At heart, however, she is yellow - greedy, attached to money, corrupted. Admittedly, this may be reading too much into a name, but if you have to write something about her, then it'll sound thoughtful and analytical.

What is the characterization of Daisy in The Great Gatsby in chaper 1?
Daisy is the archetypal conniving woman. She is only out for herself and masterfully manipulates every man that she gets her claws into.
Reply:Go to sparknotes.com, type in the great gatsby. They have character analysis, as well as summaries for some chaper 1.

What is the name of a fall blooming daisy with a flower that look exactly like a shasta daisy.?

are you thinking of a chrysanthemum? there are varieties that look like that.

What is the name of a fall blooming daisy with a flower that look exactly like a shasta daisy.?
My shasta's bloom a second time in the fall. Other than a shasta, I would think the answer is a gerbera, although they are usually a color other than white with yellow center.
Reply:Aster
Reply:Are you thinking of the "Montauk Daisy" ? my grandma used to have those all around her house on Long Island before she died.

Where can I find the value of an original Daisy Red Rider BB gun?

Man it just kills me when people try to answer gun questions with EBAY, I guess no one knows that ebay is the most gun unfriendly auction site on the net. You cannot sell a complete bb gun on ebay, you can sell parts and accessorys tho. Airsoft guns are NOT bb guns and can be sold as complete working toys.

What Daisy Rock guitar is best to use? ♥?
I've never heard the tone of a Daisy Rock guitar. But, judging from the technical data provided on the Daisy Rock web site, I would say the better acoustic would be the pixie, I really like the blueberry burst finish.

Personal note.

If Daisy Rock is what you want, go for it. However, there are better acoustic guitars out there.
Reply:Thinkabout is right. I havent heard the daisy guitar myself, but have heard alot of mixed reviews on it... there are SO many better guitars out there... you are just paying for the pink paint on the daisy.

Is the Daisy Red Ryder Cocking Lever Made of Plastic?

I'm Considering Buying One, and I Need to Know?

Is the Daisy Red Ryder Cocking Lever Made of Plastic?
It didn't use to be, and if Daisy has gotten so cheap that they now make them from plastic, they should be ashamed. I suggest going to Walmart and checking this out for yourself first-hand before purchasing one. If they've actually done this, they've cheapened the legacy of an American classic. Part of the beauty of the Red Ryder was it's real wood-and-steel construction. If Daisy has lost sight of this, they are well on their way down the tubes.
Reply:No, it isn't.

Where can I find a quote in the Great Gatsby about Daisy's social class/standards?

A quote about how Daisy is stuck in her social class, or anything pertaining to her and her social class??

Where can I find a quote in the Great Gatsby about Daisy's social class/standards?
The classic quote is probably the one about her voice being "full of money", although there are all sorts of examples of her wealth in the passages about her childhood and her wedding.

Why exactly does Gatsby fall in love with Daisy in the first place?

Because to him, she is a "golden girl". I haven't read the book in a while, so others correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he just saw her beauty and the good traits - and didn't really see the bad traits. He just saw her as a "golden girl" with nothing wrong.

Where can I buy a daisy bush?

Here is a website that I have bought plants from in the past:

http://www.directgardening.com/detail.as...

I haven't bought a daisy bush from them, but I did buy several Rose of Sharon plants, and they all have done really well, so I have been pleased with the quality. They have daisy bushes or trees that are 2-4 feet high, so they will be young plants and might not bloom this season.

What do you think of the name Daisy Scarlett?
I personally dont like Daisy
Reply:I think its cute. Very girly.
Reply:I like them both, but I agree not together.

I know some one named Daisy and her middle name is mae/may

Daisy Mae. I like that better.
Reply:This is a beautiful name but I'd recommend you switch the two names around. This name would be adorable on a litlle girl, but imagine the poor adult female trying to prove herself in a boardroom as Daisy or as Dr. Daisy Such-and-such. God-willing, we are adults much longer than we are children. Parents should keep that in mind when they name their children. Scarlett sounds much more suitable for an adult woman.
Reply:I really like the name Daisy. I would not choose Scarlett for a middle name though. Too much goin on. Scarlett Rose is very beautiful and so is Daisy Mae...but that sounds a little too Dukes of Hazard for me. lol Daisy Marie is a little better I think. My daughters name is Ella Marie. Cute huh?
Reply:my first name is scarlett and i love the name because ive never met any1 with the same name as myself and i always get compliments for my beautiful name...
Reply:Love Daisy but not with Scarlett. Does the middle name really matter? She'll probably rarely use it, especially if she's embarrassed by it.
Reply:i like that one %26amp; the daisy may one..but they both sound cutesy %26amp; scarlet sound southren..
Reply:ewww... sorry.... sounds like a relative of Daisy Duke

The two names themselves aren't bad, but not together
Reply:Maybe you could be like a celebrity and name the kid Scarlett Daisy or Velvet Rose. Whatever floats your boat.
Reply:Love 'em ..

Cute and very Southern sounding.

But word of advice .. a young grown up woman would probably not like being called the full name
Reply:it sounds kind of like a "white trash" name
Reply:No, not seperated and not together
Reply:Daisy is too "cutesy" for my taste. Scarlett is ok...I associate it with the South, though.
Reply:i ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT

Eva Scarlett

Rylie Violet

god bless!
Reply:i love both of those names, but not together.
Reply:What about Scarlet Daisy?
Reply:Both are superb names. Scarlett is my #1 girl name choice. But I am not loving them together. Too wordy.

You could consider Dasia Scarlett with the nn of Daisy, though.
Reply:Scarlett Ruby

Scarlett Laney
Reply:I like both names, but it doesn't seem like they go together...because Daisy...is a more gentle, homey type of name and lovely naming after your grandmother. Scarlett reminds me of Scarlett O'Hara in the movie....a whole different type of name.

So it seems like Daisy ought to go with Lynn, or Marie, or Anne, etc. while Scarlett should go with ...i have no idea...but it is a pretty name on its own....and I have friends who found names a long time before they had children...and then they used them!
Reply:I like Daisy as a nickname for Margaret. It's really sweet.

Used as a nickname, there's always the choice of going by something else if she doesn't like how young it sounds, but you still honour your grandmother.

Hate Scarlett though, sorry.
Reply:I like Scarlett Daisy better.

Both are beautiful.

I'm writing a paper Gatsby- Does Jay Gatsby have a mental illness or disorder based on Daisy and his war time?

Gatsby's obsession with Daisy has lead me to believe he is somewhat dazed, is there a connection involving his attachment to Daisy when he was at war and his inability to let go of her upon returning? Perhaps a mental disorder or a form of shellshock?

I'm writing a paper Gatsby- Does Jay Gatsby have a mental illness or disorder based on Daisy and his war time?
I believe it's because he is obsessed with achieving the American Dream: wealth, status, babe. He had been lacking in the babe department for too long.
Reply:Jay Gatsby is a romantic idealist, one who thinks that you can recapture a supposedly perfect past. Personally, I wouldn't call that a mental illness or disorder, but it is, admittedly,

a state of mind that is disconnected from what's generally considered to be "reality."

Jay Gatsby:

Five years before moving to West Egg in pursuit of Daisy whom he has never stopped loving, Gatsby was sent off to Europe for the war, after which he claimed he had gone to Oxford University. Raised by a farm family in the Midwest like Nick, and also in his late twenties, he has earned his wealth from shady business dealings hoping that Daisy will take him back. He throws wild weekend parties throughout the summer for people whom he hardly knows although these end after Daisy expresses her distaste of them. His illusion of being a distinguished gentleman is shattered by a very jealous Tom Buchanan. Daisy is appalled although Gatsby refuses to give up the chase, waiting for her to call him until the very moment he dies.
Reply:No he's not mental....just completely in love with his idealized version of Daisy--his whole persona is designed to make her believe that he is finally worthy of her love. (Not realizing that she is incapable of loving anyone other than herself)
Reply:less of shell shock, if anything a seriously low self esteem which "inspires" him to do the things he does-show off, want for Daisy-etc

Daisy discovers that the amount of time it takes her to drive to work is normally with:?

mean of 30 minutes and a standard deviation of 7 minutes. At what time should Daisy leave her home so that she has a 90 % chance of arriving at work by 9 AM ?

Daisy discovers that the amount of time it takes her to drive to work is normally with:?
Let t = time it actually takes her to get to work

Then t ~ N(30, 7^2)

Let T = amount of time before 9AM that she would like to leave home.

We wish to find T such that P(t%26lt;T) = 0.9

or P(z %26lt; [T-30]/7) = 0.9

Looking at the normal distribution tables,

This z value = 1.28

So (T-30)/7 = 1.28

T = 39 mins.

She must leave 39 mins before 9 AM to have a 90% chance of being at work on time.
Reply:Deviation is 7. Meaning -7 should leave by 8:30. Subtract by -7. Answer 8:23.

I'm doing a gerger daisy theme for my "Spring" wedding, any advice on invitations or favor ideas?

I have looked at every wedding invitation website it seems and I can't not find a decent invitation that has gerber daisy's on it. If this isn't possible I'm looking for a sage green or pink wedding invitation, can anyone point me i the right direction. I'd like it to have good paper qulaity too. Most websites feature invitations (Iv'e ordered samples) that have real flimsy paper.

Also, I need some creative ideas for reception favors.

Thanks!

I'm doing a gerger daisy theme for my "Spring" wedding, any advice on invitations or favor ideas?
IF i were you i would just do it myself. Since your probably having flowers at your wedding anyway, meet with your florists and ask for some flower samples. Choose the ones you you like and play around with them. Take pictures with you and your guy with the daisies. Maybe you two could hold the flower together, while being able to see your rings. Then Create a design on your computer. Make it personal by adding a line from your song that you'll dance to at the reception. Get your paper from a warehouse, the print it yourself or let Kinko's do it. IF you do it yourself, you'll save so much money. And since it is a "spring" wedding, Make some wire springs and use them as napkin rings, for holding pictures in a center piece, or as a candle holder.
Reply:My niece made her own invitations by photographing a gerber daisy then enlarging it and cutting to only show the center of the flower (very Georgia O'Keefe) Printed it in black on deep orange and hot pink papers. At the reception, she had tall vases with multicolored gerbers in them and goldfish swimming in the bottom. I like the other suggestion of giving daisy seed packets as thank you gifts, that's cute.
Reply:We have a few daisy favors, over 300 unique/elegant wedding %26amp; party favors...very affordable, just let us know your theme, budget %26amp; quantity.

For wedding reception favors, try gerber daisys (if they are in season, go live...otherwise try silk ones) tied with ribbons that are pre-printed with you and your husband's name and the date on them. And, if you have that type of guests, maybe you can tie the gerber daisy to a packet of gerber daisy seeds... so your guests can plant flowers and watch your "love" grow....

Also, they look so cute going all around the layers of cakes! My centerpieces are topiary balls covered in hot pink gerberas, in polka dotted flower pots, and htey are gonna be sooooo cute! You could get the bridesmaids to each wear a gerbera in their hair.... for the favors, you could do like a daisy shaped cookie with your dates in the center?

pink. I am an herbalist so the favors were half bars of hand-made soap wrapped in her colors. There is a wonderful paper store down the street from me. I made a template of a daisy and in the middle placed the couples name and date they were married. They were a big hit.
Reply:Can you just go to a "paper warehouse" type place that might have the Gerber Daisy on the paper and you make your own invitations? Why not see if you can find the daisy petals and sprinkle them in the tables or have then tossed as you and your groom leave. Another idea just hit me, Stampin' Up is a really cute stamp company I'm not fully sure what a Gerber Daisy looks like but they have some very pretty stamps, not sure if they can be found at stores or have to be ordered, buy the color and weight paper you like, type up the invite then decorate with stamps.

Where did the saying 'fresh as a daisy'come from? These flowers have no smell?

Well, this winter, our daisies sort of stayed alive (and bloomed!) all through the winter (even though we had temperatures as low as -9°C. They grew and bloomed a little when ther was a sunny day, got frozen stiff when there was frost, de-freezed again without any major visible damage to the blossoms, and then, in spring, they were, of course, the first thing already there before the other flowers did even start to come out.

Maybe the saying originates there? The fact that this flower grows and blooms all through summer and autumn, sort of sticks around during winter, even blooms on warm and sunny winter days, and then is still around in spring, looking as if nothing has happened.

Where did the saying 'fresh as a daisy'come from? These flowers have no smell?
Just seen this theory on wikipedia: "daisy" could be a corrupted form of "day's eye" (Chaucer called it "eye of the day") - referring to the fact that it closes its blossom during night and opens it anew in the morning. Report It

Reply:They may have no smell but they look very fresh when you see them first thing in the morning.
Reply:No smell is better than bad smell...
Reply:They look fresh and not rumpled.

The "fresh" phrase that I question is the old commercial that promised "fresh as a country lane after a spring rain".

A country lane after a spring rain is usually filled with MUD.

Question about Gerbera Daisy seeds?

This is my first post, I hope I'm doing it right.

I saved the seeds from my Gerbera daisy plants, I have tried many times to get them to grow with no luck. Does anyone know how to start the seeds? Thank you.

Question about Gerbera Daisy seeds?
Don't plant to deep -- Keep soil warm - cover with thin plastic to get humidity until they sprout. Place them in sunny window. Presto.
Reply:Hi there and welcome!

Gerbera are easy to grow IF the soil is warm enough.

They are a warm climate plant, thus suited to warm growing conditions.

Also, are you sure you have seeds and not just the fluff?

Note: 1 inch is way too deep! You should barely cover with soil and keep lighly moist till germination.
Reply:You can either start them in the house or outside in your garden in the spring.Maybe your planting them to deep.1 inch should be deep enough. If you plant the outside just rake the soil and push the seed down enough so that it's covered. Good Luck!
Reply:Gerbera seeds need light to germinate. If they don't sprout for you within 20 days, they probably aren't viable. You can also start them in spring from cuttings or dividing the root stock. good luck.

What is the usage Daisy cutter bomb?
its most recent use as a psychological weapon

The Air Force dropped several BLU-82s during the campaign to destory the Taliban and al-Qaeda terror networks in Afganistan to attack and demoralize personnel and to destroy underground- and cave-complexes.

here is some info on it

BLU-82B

The BLU-82B/C-130 weapon system, nicknamed Commando Vault in Vietnam and Daisy Cutter in Afghanistan, is a high altitude delivery of 15,000 pound conventional bomb, delivered from an MC-130 since it is far too heavy for the bomb racks on any bomber or attack aircraft. Originally designed to create an instant clearing in the jungle, it has been used in Afghanistan as an anti-personnel weapon and as an intimidation weapon because of its very large lethal radius (variously reported as 300-900 feet) combined with flash and sound visible at long distances. It is the largest conventional bomb in existence but is less than one thousandth the power of the Hiroshima nuclear bomb.

Frequent press reports to the contrary, the Daisy Cutter is not a fuel-air explosive (FAE). It is a conventional explosive incorporating both agent and oxidizer. In contrast, an FAE consists only of agent and a dispersing mechanism, and takes its oxidizer from the oxygen in the air. FAEs generally run between 500 and 2000 pounds; it would be difficult to make an FAE the size of Daisy Cutter because the correct uniform mixture of agent with ambient air would be difficult to maintain if the agent were so widely dispersed. Thus, the conventional explosive technique of Daisy Cutter is more reliable than that of an FAE, particularly if there is significant wind or thermal gradient.

This system depends upon the accurate positioning of the aircraft by either a fixed ground radar or onboard navigation equipment. The ground radar controller, or aircrew navigator as applicable, is responsible for positioning the aircraft prior to final countdown and release. Primary aircrew considerations include accurate ballistic and wind computations provided by the navigator, and precision instrument flying with strict adherence to controller instructions. The minimum altitude for release due to blast effects of the weapon is 6,000 feet AGL. The BLU-82 was originally designed to clear helicopter landing zones and artillery emplacements in Vietnam. The warhead contains 12,600 pounds of low-cost GSX slurry (ammonium nitrate, aluminum powder, and polystyrene) and is detonated just above ground level by a 38-inch fuze extender, optimized for destruction and ground level without digging a crater. The weapon produces an overpressure of 1000 psi [pounds per square inch] near ground zero, tapering off as distance increases.

Eleven BLU-82s were dropped during Desert Storm, all from Special Operations C-130s. The initial drops were intended to test the ability of the bomb to clear mines; no reliable bomb damage assessment exists on mine clearing effectiveness. Later, bombs were dropped as much for their psychological effect as for their antipersonnel effects. The Air Force dropped several BLU-82s during the campaign to destory the Taliban and al-Qaeda terror networks in Afganistan to attack and demoralize personnel and to destroy underground- and cave-complexes.
Reply:BLU-82 - 15000KG - big bomb!

Is a gerber daisy incomplete or complete?

Gerbera Daisies are completely beautiful. Perennial in zone 8. Make superior cut flowers. Easy to grow.

Will my argyranthemum (daisy crazy) survive the winter outside?

Well if it's the Argyranthemum frutescens it most likely will not. You may be able to get it to survive if you mulch it heavily with hay or straw. It doesn't do well below 20F. I live in central Georgia(8a) and I have trouble some winters.

Can I grow 1) peony 2) shasta daisy in a pot?

Yes, but I would recommend that you try to put the peony in the ground because they can get to become the size of a medium bush. Also shasta daisy's will spread if given time, and will look better if planted in a mass. These are both perennials and will have a better chance of coming back if placed in the ground.

Can I grow 1) peony 2) shasta daisy in a pot?
shasta daisies are your better bet for growing in pots. however, even with shasta daisies, u must need a bigger pot since they don't handle temperature extremes often associated with small pots. since peonies are very long lived plants and don't respond well to any soil/root disturbances, a pot is not recommended. that being said, if you have a large enough pot, you could grow bulb peonies relatively well. :) enjoy experimenting since that's part of the joy of gardening.
Reply:I do a lot of container gardening, and to answer your question, Yes and Yes. Any plant can be container grown so long as you meet the plant's needs. For the peony plan to use at least a 14" pot, and no less than a 10, but preferably a 12" pot for the shasta. Watering is very critical as they will not have the chance to develope deep root systems to get to water during hot weather. Do not fertilize past August. You will need to overwinter them in a protected area. I generally place all my container grown perennials in my vegetable bed close together, and after a freeze, pull hay overtop of them. Currently I have a number of roses, thyme, mint, sedum, bleeding heart, miniature weeping willow and a Japanese Maple that I have have several years and they do just fine.
Reply:yes but if they get below freezing in the winter they will die

The peony will grow large so be prepared to either up pot it after a while or water it A LOT.

Which Daisy Rock acoustic guitar is better?

the wildwood or pixie?

please only answer if you actually have an answer...

thank you :)

Which Daisy Rock acoustic guitar is better?
The Wildwood is a step above the Pixie. The Pixie has a composite body which is light, but plasticky.

The Wildwood has an all-wood body and also includes a piezo pick-up system, allowing the performer to plug it into an amplifier and crank up the juice.

What is the maximum number of gigabit ethernet switches that can be daisy chained together?

It completely depends on the switches used and the amount of bottlenecking you want. If you look at the switches before you purchase you will see in the tech specs how many clients maximum.

You are better off not daisy chaining switches, but having one central switch say a 24 port 10gig-e switch and then having 24 gig-e switches coming off this each with a 10gig-e uplink or module, to reduce bottlenecking.

What is the maximum number of gigabit ethernet switches that can be daisy chained together?
I don't believe there would be a limit, but how many do you need?
Reply:Should be checking with the switch manufacturer and their notes (eg Cisco), depends on the switch and how it is engineered if you are talking about chaining gigabit uplink ports etc.

I am baking a cake and want to decorate it with real Daisy Flowers. Is this safe? Any special guidelines?

I was taught that you shouldn't put anything on a cake that is not edible. That being said, there are many edible flowers that can be put on cakes. Here is a list of them, and what they actually taste like. So go ahead and put daisies on your cake!

Begonia: lemony and crisp

Carnation: spicy

Chive Blossom: mild chive

Chrysanthemum: bitter to very bitter

Daylily: crisp and sweet

English Daisy: grassy and tangy

Geranium: vary greatly according to variety

Impatiens: very bland

Marigold: spicy

Orchids: warm and peppery

Primrose: sweet

Squash Blossom: sweet

Tulip: crisp and cucumber-like

Violet: sweet

I am baking a cake and want to decorate it with real Daisy Flowers. Is this safe? Any special guidelines?
buy silk ones
Reply:you would need to use edible flowers, or in other words, flowers that have been grown organically without the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides/herbicides. daisies from the home center or from a florist are not going to be edible.

contact your local florist and ask if you could order some edible daisies, or as previous posters suggested, use silk (fake) ones. also - by using the silks, they will be perfect looking flowers with no bad or brown spots, and they won't discolor themselves or the cake.
Reply:If you want to use daisies but are worried about pesticides, wrap the stems with plastic wrap first and then stick them in the cake. There are other flowers that are edible, see links below for more info. You might even look in your grocery store. Occasionally they might sell johnny jump ups or nasturtiums.
Reply:Unless you grew them yourself, the flowers probably have some sort of pesticide on them. Also, as I unfortunately discovered, if they're home-grown flowers, there can be insects hidden in the flower.
Reply:WITH REAL FLOWERS? NO BECAUSE YOU CAN EAT IT THEN THE TEST WOULD STAY ON THE CAKE IF U TOOK THE FLOWERS OFF. SO JUST MAKE ON WITH ICING OR BUY SOME FAKE ONES THAT ARE EDIBLE THAT U CAN PUT ON A CAKE

Is there something wrong with her

My 1 month old pet rat daisy that i've had for 4 days is making a weird noise I'm worried is this normal?
Rats are suppose to interact with you and their cage mates. If she has taken herself off into the corner then she is not feeling well, whether it be physically, mentally, or emotionally.

I'm afraid it could be Myco. This respiratory disease is common in the poor-quality rats that we buy from pet stores. I've bought many rats from pet stores and at some time in their lives they have gotten Myco. It's just a fact I live with having fallen in love with these little furballs :)

"............the third time they get Myco it's incurable". This is not possible. Since all pet rats are born with the Mycoplasmosis pathogen in their systems, they carry the bug without symptoms until such time that they are stressed and their immune system crashes. At the pet store the rats are always in a situation where they are stressed so it is not uncommon to buy rats that are already sick from their stay at the pet store.

Mycoplasmosis cannot be cured, period. It can only be controlled, with antibiotics. Each time the rat shows symptoms we call it a Myco flare-up. Unfortunately, once a rat gets it's first myco flare-up, it will continue to get flare-ups off and on throughout it's life. We know at some point that our rats will get sick with Myco and the best we can hope for is that they get it much later in life.

Myco starts out in the nasel passages with excessive sneezing. Left untreated congestion builds up. At this point they start to make the noises. People describe these noises as clicking, guinea pig oinking, or a coffee pot perculating.

Continued untreated it will work it's way down to the lungs and set up the secondary infection of pneumonia. Myco is a lot easier to treat then pneumonia.

"my life has gone to the rats"
Reply:you have to be more specific. what does the sound sound like?
Reply:Okay, first of all- just becuase you got it from petco doesn't mean the rat is going to be friendly OR healthy. Your little rat is probably sick, I'm going to say It might have a respratory infection, only becuase I've gotten rats from many diff stores and found that it's very common for rats to come with this. This funny noise is what gives it away for me. Alot of rats will die from this if gone untreated. Honestly, I say you should bring it back to the store if you just got it. Even if you don't want to KEEP IT AWAY FROM THE OTHER RAT!!! the last thing you want is the other one becomming sick too, if what ever your other rat has IS contagious, keep them coranteened. If you ever get a new rat, always keep the new one seporated form the other(s) for atleast a week. This will keep it from getting other rats sick.

Please feel free to contact me for more info.

~Good Luck!~

p.s.

if the rat does turn out to not be sick, just be sure to give it as much time as it needs to warm up to you. You want the rat to trust you from the START. You can try holding your hand in the cage for a long time, but never corner the rat! wait for it to aproch you, always.
Reply:She probably has a respertory problem. they are very common in rats, so a vet can treat her. however, once they have had this infection a third time, it is uncurable
Reply:i have a hamster named Daisy lol

ummmm u should prob take them both 2 the vet 2 c whats wrong
Reply:she also is stressed out about coming into a new home which is causing her symptoms to act up
Reply:What does the noise sound like? She could just be bruxing(when they grind their teeth back and forth, they usually do this because they are happy or stressed)

How to Daisy Chain Linksys router?
Just connect the non-wireless router (from a lan port) into the WAN connection in the other router. Set up the wireless router to use a different dhcp range that the other router and the wireless router will get it's network information from the WAN. Very easy.
Reply:buy a Linksys Wirless Router\4 ports switch.... at any Best Buy or Circuit City,,, or computer store...

This way you can use just one, box...

Depending on the router, you may not be able to daisy chain unless its a Router\switch.. in that case take a cable and plug it into the switch then plug into the Internet port on the wirless....
Reply:Use the Uplink port on the first router to connect a cable to port 1 on the second router.
Reply:Go buy a Linksys Wireless Access Point like the WAP54G, and simply plug a cable from the ethernet port on the WAP54G into one of the ports on the other linksys router. I actually am going through 3 routers, so it really is not difficult to do.

My rat, Daisy, loves to give me kisses (licks my lip and face), is this ok for her and for me?
It's perfectly fine for her to give you kisses, mine always do too. :) Some people will even let their rats share their food, drink, and clean their teeth, which is also OK. Blue probably just guessed, but if you do have a weak immune system you may not want to let them clean your teeth, or if you're ill.

What is the yellow part in the center of a daisy called?

What we call as a flower of Daisy ( Singular ) is in fact a collection of numerous tiny flowers ( To put emphasis on their tiny structure they are technically called 'florets' ).

There are two distinct types of florets

1) Peripheral 'Ray Florets'= white in color and look like petals of an ordinary flower .

2 ) The central "Disc Florets " = They look like stamens and carpels of an ordinary flower.

The part that you are referring to is The Disc.

In the photo on the link below you can see the peripheral 'Ray Florets ' that are white in color and at the center the Disc that is all covered with 'Disc Florets' that are yellowish brown in color .

In the link below you can see a single ' Ray Floret ' It is tiny .Still a flower in its own right !!!

What most people believe are petals are actually parts of individual flowers in an inflourescence of flowers.

In the book, the great gatsby, why did daisy end up with tomrather than gatsby?
Gatsby went to war. Tom was richer. Daisy was an opportunist. Pax-C
Reply:she wasn't willing to give up the money and position she got with tom. Gatsby had money, but because he hadn't been born into it he didn't get any position or respect for it. this is proved by the fact no one went to his funeral in the end. Everyone at his parties had been using him for the money.
Reply:It was all about the car, and the accident. Not too many qualities found there.
Reply:New money vs. Old money. Gatsby has new money, while Tom was born into having a wealthy background.
Reply:Daisy chose Tom twice, because she is nieve, and only thinks of herself. She's really dumb too. lol

My daughter sprayed weed killer everywhere, can I save the peony, montauk daisy, etc?

I would actually cut down all the top growth. This will get rid of the spray so it doesn't stay on the plant and infect the root system. The peony won't flower again till next year, but You might have luck with the daisys. I know how You must feel!!!

I hope with all my heart not.

It will serve you right for allowing poison on your own premises, in your own daughter's hands, no less.

What's the difference between a gerbera and an african daisy?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerbera

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_dai...

You'll see pics of the two at the above sites. If you look at their latin names, they are very closely related, both being in the same family of plants, but they are different genus/species.

Many plants in the sunflower family look very similar, and it's hard to tell them apart unless you are a botanist or florist.

I have african daisies in my yard, and they make a nice ground cover that does well without a lot of watering.

I haven't grown gerberas, but that site mentions they are very popular as cut flowers, so they might make a nice addition to a flower garden.

The Great Gatsby Novel: Why does Nick feel that Daisy is trying to show off her cynicism?

Any help would be great.

The Great Gatsby Novel: Why does Nick feel that Daisy is trying to show off her cynicism?
Nick believes this by the way that Daisy acts. The whole time he talks to her, she seems determined to undermine him. Like the whole " i wished my daughter to be an ignorant little fool." I suppose it could be because she was trying to seem smarter than she really is... Sorry if this doesn't make any sense, i dont know how to explain myself..

Does anyone know where I can find pictures of Daisy Armband tattoo designs?

Ideally I would like to find one that has small blue daisies

Does anyone know where I can find pictures of Daisy Armband tattoo designs?
Don't do it! I have a tatto and I love it, but I wasn't crazy enough to put it in a place where it would look totally ridiculous when I hit 40! Imagine yourself working in a corporate environment when you're older and looking like a female thug who is saving her pennnies to have it removed because it looks awful. I recommend buying a fake one and wearing it on your arm and get a feel for it for a couple of weeks and really let it sink in how permanent it is and ask yourself if that is a smart location.

10 years ago I wanted an anklet of daisies and asked myself the same question. Well thank God I didn't get it because there are many times when it wouldn't be appropriate and it would look ridiculous. I see old women with them and think how stupid they look. Really consider your location because even people I know that have had them removed have discolored or warped skin as a result, so maybe also investigate current removal processes to give yourself an out should you ever want it.
Reply:go to google and look it up!
Reply:Go to www.tattoos.com and at the left side towards the bottom it will say new sites (they are a lot)

So you can look at all of them and find the perfect design you want. then just print it and take it to your tattoo artist.

How well does white tattoo on skin? I want to get a white daisy in memory of my rottweiler Dazey.?

Wow. Thats a new one.

How well does white tattoo on skin? I want to get a white daisy in memory of my rottweiler Dazey.?
just get the perimeter shaded like brownish
Reply:Sorry I don't have an answer i just had to say how cute that is that you are doing that.

P.S. All Dogs go to Heaven:)
Reply:Yes, it depends on your skin tone.

Obviously the darker you are, the better it will show.

I've been thinking about getting a tattoo in white ink as a starter,

since it's not really as noticeable.

here's Lindsay Lohan's,

http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/04...

I really can't tell if she's tanned or not in this,

but it seems to show quite decently.

I've been thinking about fluorescent tattoos too,

those are completely safe + pretty cool. (:

http://images.43things.com/entry/100655p...

Some inks will be completly invisible under normal lighting,

while others will just have normal colors.

Good luck! (:
Reply:all depends on the tone of your skin
Reply:If you tan either on a tanning bed or in the sun, the white will eventually go a creamy color and will start to blend in with your own skin tones. It will look fantastic when first done, but you may need to have the coloring touched up every couple of years to keep it looking bright. You could have an outline of a daisy and have it black and gray with a touch of white. That would look awesome! Just my 2cents.
Reply:Go for it! I LOVE white tattoos. This is a horrible example, but Lindsay Lohan has one on her wrist that reads "breathe" - soo cute! They'll be hard to see if you're pale, but that's nothing that a nice tan won't change.

Hope you have fun with your new tattoo! Take care.
Reply:one of my friends has a huge white fairy on her back. she had to go back several times just to do the white, it showed up beautifully. if you do it once or twice it doesn't really show up...like i said she went back 8-9 times before the tattoo was completely finished.
Reply:It depends in the tone of your skin but if you thik you wont bea ble to see it make a shadow around it so you will be able to see it.
Reply:White ink will typically show up better on a darker skin tone. I am pretty tan my self, and have white ink on a butterfly tattoo, but it barely shows. I would try to use a different color to make your tattoo really stand out and complement your skin, such as a yellow, or pink for lighter skin tones.
Reply:Unless you are naturally pretty tan, it won't show up too well, try getting it outlined in black if you are pretty white to help it show up, or just pick another color or something else all togehter--good luck, hope it turns out well.
Reply:From an artistic standpoint, objects in real life are RARELY white. So, if you're looking to get a realistic white daisy, it's not going to be completely white. There are subtle undertones of color, like shades of almost non noticeable yellows and blues and browns. If things that were white, such as flowers, were completely stark white you wouldn't be able to distinguish the shape and the texture of them. Just make sure you have a good tattoo artist who has done white tattoos before, check samples of previous tattoos, specifically ones showcasing white. You'll get a feel for whether or not they're capable, and if you look, I'm sure you'll see all of the shading and undertones the artist used, because it *really* is an artistic work. White seems to tattoo fine on skin, just like any other color, like light pink or light blue. However, if you've got pale skin, a darker, more shaded outline (not a big black stenciled line or anything, but the natural shaded outline of a flower) might make the tattoo pop more and be more noticeable, if thats what you want. Otherwise, if you have darker skin, the white flower should stand out fine. I've seem some tattoos with white in it that look great... my friend has a picture of his jack russel terrier tattooed on his leg and it's mostly white.
Reply:i think you should just get your rottweiler tatted on you thats what im going to do...but im not going to wait till he dies am going to get my rottweiler tatted on my calve...im just saving up the money so i can have kat from LA ink do it...
Reply:It depends on how well the artist can get it in your skin. Not many artist are able to make white ink go in like it needs to. So just do your research and look at portfolios of artist you are considering and see how well they are with using white ink.
Reply:It looks good for a while but will fade over time as with any tattoo. I have a turtle tattoo on my stomach that is relatively shaded from the sun/weather and the white of it's eye has faded but it's been a year and a half since I've had it done. The worst you'd have to do is have it touched up once in a while if it starts to fade noticeably.

Will a daisy plant transpire more in a humid environment or in a dry environment? Why?

Will a daisy plant transpire more in a humid environment or in a dry environment? Why?

Thank you!

Will a daisy plant transpire more in a humid environment or in a dry environment? Why?
Dry environment, because when molecules diffuse they go from a higher concentration to a lower concentration.
Reply:Vapor pressure is much greater in dry air than wet

When air is 100% saturated (swimming pool) no transpiration is possible - then as air becomes drier - evaporation rates increase and wet bulb temperature decreases.

All liquids want to evaporate - its easier to do so when the air is dry - hence the greater vapor pressure.

Can anyone give me some information on the working of daisy-wheel printers?

i need info on how it works.

Can anyone give me some information on the working of daisy-wheel printers?
Daisy wheel printers are primitive printing devices used in early computing history to produce print material. Paper is forwarded by knotched wheel that roll continuous paper fed through the printer. Printing is accomplished by pen strikes at various locations on paper in order to achieve print. This style of printing has been replaced largely by laser and ink jet products.

Where did the expression "whoopsi - daisy!" come from?

My sister and I were debating over it and couldn't figure it out? Is this expression somehow related to the one "pushing up daisies"?

Where did the expression "whoopsi - daisy!" come from?
Terms such as "up-a-daisy" date to the early 1700s, as an encouragement to a child who has fallen to stand up, or as an exclamation upon lifting a child. It's basically a nonsense phrase, presumably intended to amuse the little ones. Variants include "upsi-daisy" or "upsy-daisy" from the 1860s as well as "upsa-daisy" . . . any of them with or without hyphens.

The first use of "whoops-a-daisy" per se is around 1925, in a New Yorker cartoon. It's an expression of surprise or dismay, specifically upon discovering one's own error. The modern-day equivalent would be "D'oh!", I'm afraid, which is much less expressive. The term was shortened to "whoops" by 1937, and appears in that form in a letter by Ezra Pound, no less. One assumes that it was related to the expression "to whoop," as in giving "whoops of joy." That usage goes back to the early 1600s.

Earlier usage of "whoop" as a verb ("the falconer whoops his hawks") is found in the early 1400s. To cry whoop during a hunt was to indicate that the game was dead. And whoop was very quickly associated with other phrases, such as "Whope! who!" (1450) and "Whoop diddle" (1596.) The use of "whoop" or "whup" as an exclamation of surprise or derision appears in 1568

In the great gatsby how do these symbolic images contribute to the relationship between daisy and gatsby?

the mist, the rain, the green light, pile of beautiful shirts, klipspringer playing piano and the pink clouds

In the great gatsby how do these symbolic images contribute to the relationship between daisy and gatsby?
mist/rain: the awkwardness of there relationship

greenlight: represents how close yet so far daisy is from him

shirts: this is when daisy starts crying and realizes she married the wrong man

pink clouds: the cluelessness of daisy and about the way gatsby feels for her

klipspringer: how gatsby is constantly trying to do things for daisy

Gatsby has a difficult time communicating with Daisy, but...?

In the early pages of chapter 6, admits that he had took advantage of young virgins carelessly. Why does he lose his loose approach to Dais, and what does that say about his character?

Gatsby has a difficult time communicating with Daisy, but...?
Because he doesn't see Daisy in the same light as the girls he picked up and had sex with. Daisy is his ideal woman. He puts her on a pedestal. He simply refuses to see the truth about her. To him, she is a Goddess. What it says about his character is that he is just living with blinders on where Daisy is concerned. Pax-C
Reply:becuase Gatsby loved Daisy. he didnt love any of those other girls. everything after he met her, was for Daisy. his house, his money, his parties! everything was for Daisy. he had unconventional love for her, and she couldnt return the favor. yes they had a little affiar, but she wouldnt tell Tom she never loved him.

this tells us that Gatsby is a very determined individual. he sets his mind to persuing Daisy, although he never gets her. what Gatsby never realized though (and this makes him a little too determined, almost clumsy) is that the part of his life with Daisy was already over. it was already behind him just like that green light from his dock that Nick saw him reaching for early in the book.

How do i get my dog daisy not to jump on me and other ppl.?

she jumps on your back usally so i cant hit her on the nose and everything ppl. tells me doesnt work.

How do i get my dog daisy not to jump on me and other ppl.?
Hi, well I don't know how old Daisy is, but i think she is greeting people when she sees them, so what i have done, not with a dog, but with my cat when she does something i don't like is to grab her from her legs, softly put her down, while saying very firmly: NO! and then i caress her a lot...if you are consistant, she will learn it, they are very smart!, off course you can also give her a little treat while caressing her, that way she will now that to not do it, means love and treat :)

Good luck with that!
Reply:You have to tie her up when people come over and when she is jumping on you hold her snout look her in the eyes and say no jump. if that dosent work....
Reply:when she jump just say no in a serous way ok

and some time dont give any reaction like she is not exist ok some time she want ur attention like kids made wrong thing just to caought attention
Reply:well, don't kick her like one guy said. Tell her no, and lightly slap her on the back. If that don't work, try biting her ear. I heard that works SOMETIMES when they are bad.

*Alyssa*
Reply:Don't listen to that one guy that said kick her. That is not a good answer. I had the same promblem with my lab daisy and my shepherd Scarlet. When they dog it, pop them gentley but firmly on the nose. Tell her no in a stern voice. When she is about to jump push her off and say no. If she is a puppy, she might just be gretting you. Oh, on your back. Okay, then she might be, it might be because she is not fixed- not trying to be gross or anything. Turn around and pop her right when you feel her paws. That is a bad habbit.

GOod luck
Reply:Kick her!!!
Reply:Give the dog basic training. If you don't know how, I can tell you how (the right way). Just email me at lilbiguy06@yahoo.com. I have trained dogs for years from basic training to personal protection dogs up to police k-9. I have also trained schutzhund dogs. Good luck.
