Foliage on daisy bush is looking brown and worn out. Any suggestions?

It is Summer here and extremely hot. I water them every day.

Foliage on daisy bush is looking brown and worn out. Any suggestions?
I have a daisy bush that did the same thing from time to time. I solved it by making sure that I water it very well so that water gets down to the roots . Watering every day only a little will not get enough water to the roots. Do water in the am and try not to get the leaves wet. Try a soaker hose or drip system, plants respond to that better. Fertilizer may be helpful, but don't over do it as you may also cause burns from that.

Get a general fertilizer and mix it 1/2 strength first and then see what happens. Get the kind you mix with water and then pour it on the ground around the plant, not the leaves because its so hot there.

With that and proper watering it should straighten out.
Reply:Make sure you are watering the soil directly and not the leaves etc. When it is very hot and you water the plant you can actually cause it to burn, so water with caution not to get water on the entire plant.

Try cutting it back and giving it some miracle gro as well.

good luck
Reply:I think it would be helpful to know who Daisy Bush is first. She might just be old and worn out.
Reply:fertilize. after a plant lives in the ground for so long it sucks most of the nutrients from the soil leaving the PH balance off wack. Or maybe it just gets too much sun and is burning. Make sure u water in the morning before the direct sun hits it. That way it gets a good drink for the hot day ahead.
Reply:I'm guessing that you are leaving the BLOSSOMS on the plant, and that is what is causing it to 'turn brown' and look 'worn out' ... go outside and clip EVERY BLOSSOM off, and 'prune away the brown and worn parts' and it should 'perk up' and even start blooming again ... and be sure you give it 'enough water' to live, but also don't 'drown it' in too much water ...

The 'daisy bush' is related to the chrysanthemum and should be treated 'just the same' ... and by taking all of the blooms 'off' you 'fool it' into making more instead of 'thinking it's done for this year' and dying back.

I'm helping with a daisy themed baby shower. Need help with more ideas for decor?

I'll be using yellow and white baloons to make "daisies" to hang around the walls. I'm going to have a cupcakes instead of a cake with single daisies on top of the white icing. I'll have real daisies in little white vases on the tables. How can I incoroporate a sky blue in there? Don't want it to be too Yellow and White.

I'm helping with a daisy themed baby shower. Need help with more ideas for decor?
I would get light blue table clothes. I think that would bring it all together nicely. For the cupcakes, maybe you can put them in the blue wrappers. Also, I am not sure if you are giving favors, but a really cute, quick and inexpensive idea is daisy pens. Buy cheapo bic pens. Wrap them in green floral tape. Attach a silk daisy flower. You can put them in mini terracotta pots (about .25 each from home depot) filled with black beans for dirt. Then put a blue ribbon on the "stem" or pot (ie. Julie's baby shower March 2, 2007).
Reply:try haveing blue table cloths or blue ribbions around the vases.
Reply:Dont forget little puppies with the name Daisy on them.

Where do I get the Death Daisy in the Sims 2 Castaway?

I've seriously been searching around on the 2nd island for about 3 HOURS, and I'm dying here. Where do I find the Death Daisy for the potion in The Sims 2: Castaway?

Where do I get the Death Daisy in the Sims 2 Castaway?
Hiya, the death daisy is only found if one or more of your sims die, when they die a rock appears on their grave and then this will produce a death daisy.

So its not really needed through the game unless one of the crew dies, you can't bring the skeletons back to life.

Is there a daisy that grows on a thorny bush?

My mom has flowers growing on a thorny bush that she says look like little daisies. I'm wondering if anyone could tell me if they are daisies. If they aren't, could anyone tell me what the flowers are that are growing there?

Daisies don't have thorns and I can't think of any daisy-like things that have thorns. A picture of it would be helpful.

Can a gerbera daisy be dyed blue?

Or are there any pretty blue colored flowers that would be in season for an october wedding. Are hydrandras in season?

Can a gerbera daisy be dyed blue?
I use to dye carnations by just cutting the stems %26amp; putting them in food color %26amp; water it takes a couple days for them to turn..any white flower can be dyed. here is a site that tells of all blue flowers but they are different shades

http://www.gardening-tips-perennials.com...

Reply:Any white flower can be dyed blue. What you can do is when you're planting the flower put some copper sulfate in the ground around it. I have a friend whose mother planted a copper pipe in the ground instead. It gave the flower blue tips.
Reply:There are spray on dyes used on flowers. You can tint a white flower by placing it in water that has the desired hue of food coloring in it.
Reply:Thanks to hothouses you can get pretty much any flower you want. I have seen Gerber Daisies dyed blue.

Where do the seeds from a gerber daisy located to use for the following year to germinate?

i kept the flower and dried it out and stored it in paper bag

Where do the seeds from a gerber daisy located to use for the following year to germinate?
Gerber Daisy's are just like sunflowers.

Their seeds can be found in the fuzzy part in the middle of the flower. (Make sure the flower bloomed all the way, if unsure plant the bloom as listed below. You can thin them out later.)

Planting tips: Plant them pointed end down, it takes 15-25 days to germinate. It takes 6 months from germination to blooming. Do not over water. Good Luck!

Help for a new Daisy scout Leader?

I have agreed to be the leader for a Daisy Troop. We are just now starting (first meeting Nov. 14th) I don't plan to hold meetings through the summer. What is the best way for the girls the earn all the petals in this short time? My council has said "Whatever you want to do", but I don't know what to do or what order. I wasn't a girl scout so all this is new to me.

Help for a new Daisy scout Leader?
Being a Daisy Leader can be a ton of fun! Girls at this age are eager and really want to participate. I wouldn't worry too much about earning the petal quickly - it should take all year to earn them. We met weekly for one hour and usually had one field trip a month...We usually earned one petal every two meetings. Any faster than that and the girls don't really understand what they are doing.

There are some great websites available for Daisy Leaders - here are a few...

The biggest and most important thing with Daisy Girl Scouts is to stay flexible. If it isn't working - then move on...Always have a game (duck, duck, goose, etc) in your back pocket just in case.

This is what my girls did to earn their petals...

About how many blooms will my gerbera daisy produce?

Do I need to cut back the faded blooms?

About how many blooms will my gerbera daisy produce?
It is really hard to say how many blooms a gerbera will produce, but they do flower all summer long. Each plant will produce between 3 and 10 blooms at a time....and yes, once they are wilted, you may cut back the spent flower to encourage more blooms. Also, gerbers are some of the longer lasting cut flowers, so bring them in and enjoy them indoors as well!

Did you know you can also propagate your gerber daisies by taking softwood cuttings of them? Look at this link for more info: http://www.excite.es/search/web/detail?_...

How much water should i feed my small potted gerbera daisy plant?

and when the bloom has wilted where do i cut the flower off at, at the bottom of them stem or right under the bloom?

How much water should i feed my small potted gerbera daisy plant?
Water your pot daily, especially if it is outside. Water it until water runs out of the drain holes.

It really doesn't matter where you cut the flower off at, though lower down the stem can keep the plant looking more tidy.
Reply:keep it evenly moist. if it is kept outside it will require more water if it is in a pot than if it planted in the ground. make sure to feed it at least every other week with a fertilizer high in phosphorous like 15-30-15 to keep it blooming good. and when you cut the dead bloom clip the stem and bloom to keep plant looking great.

I have a Gerber Daisy pot on my front porch, and I was wondering when I water it?

if I should water the petals of the flowers also, or if I should just water the soil part. It just seems to me like the flower would want its petals wet also, but I don't really know.

I have a Gerber Daisy pot on my front porch, and I was wondering when I water it?
Water just at the soil level. The flowers will last longer if they stay dry.
Reply:When watering your gerber daisies take care to not get the leaves and flower petals wet. Constant dampness could encourage mold and mildew and fungus issues. Slugs just love them so get the slug bait available not harmful to pets. Always water daily and never allow to dry out. Pots dry out quickly during the summer so water twice or more daily depending on the temps. An alternative watering technique are the soaker systems which are attached to timers and automatically water the pots. I have had great success with this technique and I can go on vacation with no worries, because I know all my potted plants are being watered automatically and will look great when I return. Any garden center carries the watering system. Good Luck
Reply:You water the soil, when it is dry, so check it daily.

How can I get myself smelling "fresh as a daisy"?

I take alot of showers but I can never get my body smelling clean enough. I use alot of body soap. I love the "warm vanilla and sugar" products from bath and body works. What products from that line should I use? How much should I use? Where should I use it?

How can I get myself smelling "fresh as a daisy"?
You may need to change your choice of scent. Sometimes, based on your body's own chemistry, some perfumes/scents don't work as well or put out the desired aroma...it actually reacts to your body's chemistry in a counterproductive way. My cousin had that problem....so what she did was started to use unscented (or very lightly scented like Caress) soap and then she only used the body spray. She would spray that on both before AND after she got dressed...her clothing actually ended up smelling more along the scent she wanted. Not all scents/perfumes would do that for her, just certain ones.
Reply:Scoot naked like a beagle on carpet in a daisy field.
Reply:You may smell fresher than you think. Usually an individual cannot smell themselves. Ask a good friend if you smell fresh. Explain why and I'm sure you'll get an honest answer.

If you still feel you need to be cleaner, you might try an antibacterial or deoderant soap and get away from the special scents. They may not be cleansing the skin properly. Also, instead of using a wash cloth, try a body sponge with a buffing side that will gently buff off the dead skin cells. Everyday millions of dead skin cells fall off our skin. You may need to give them a hand.

Good luck and Merry Christmas!
Reply:i think ur paranoid about the way u smell
Reply:Daisies actually smell bad, but try Dr. Bronners Peppermint Soap. Try a natural soap and see if it better. Deoderant soaps are too strong and can be bad for your skin.
Reply:bath in bleach
Reply:everywhere except the vaginal area. Soap messes up the PH balance there and may make u smell worse. Just clean it with just water when ur showering.
Reply:Sometimes the scent of the product your using could be the problem. I love the Warm Vanilla Sugar stuff from Bath and Body Works, but it makes me smell funny. Sometimes you should just shop around and try new soaps. My favorite is soft soap's Lavendar %26amp; Chammomile (however you spell it). It makes me smell gooood!

But, if you are determined to use the Warm Vanilla and Sugar line, I'd get the body wash, and some plain bar soap (Dove, or something with close to no scent from Walmart) and wash under your arms and any other sweaty places with the bar soap, and use the body wash for your arms, legs, etc. Then use a non scented deoderant (Like Powder Fresh or something, not some fancy scented one) that way it will leave you smelling fresh, but it won't take away from the Warm Vanilla Sugar and make you smell like you have too many things going on... Hope this helps. Sometimes it takes forever to figure out what combination makes you smell your best!
Reply:Don't worry about using too much heavily-scented stuff. In fact, one time I sniffed a person, who had just this very mild scent like a plain soap, and I just about went crazy with desire. There are such a thing as pheremones, you know; you don't want to mask those! They make guys attracted to you. Just a plain %26amp; simple shower will leave you smelling clean, fresh, and delicious!! But even I must say, the Tutti Dolci cream is wonderful. When I use it, I put on my arms. legs, butt, tummy and breasts.
Reply:I use baby dove or baby's own soap in the shower, it is so mild and smells so subtle and nice...

I discovered I loved this soap when I was out of body wash and all that was in the shower was my baby's soap...

This is all I use now and it is very gentle on the skin...

I find that the milder smelling soap a person uses, the cleaner they smell...

Does Royal blue and Daisy yellow match?
hey doll. I agree, the colors are great together for spring.

You didnt mention a shirt, however, I recommend white with this outfit. Bold colors like daisy and royal blue need a neutral as a balance.

I think diamond hoops would look best. Too much yellow or blue can be overpowering. Like I said above, the outfit sounds great, but add white as a neutral (shirt, earrings).

Where is the poisonous daisy in Sims Castaway for PS2?

I am trying to kill the boar, but I can't make the poison, because I can't find the daisy.

Where is the poisonous daisy in Sims Castaway for PS2?
Ah. The flower can only be found if one of your sims die. You can then made the potion to REVIVE that sim, and bring them back to life. The potion doesn't help with killing boars.

To kill a boar, you first need about 10 body skill, so that when you get in a fight with them, you will actually win. I brought out my spear, and ran around a boar to irritate it until it attacked me. It takes a while, and it's hard to find boars sometimes.

Good luck!

its kinda heavy reading

In Great Gatsby why didn't Daisy Wolfsheim and others go to funeral. How does this relate to a central theme?

Just looking for how this funeral scene of nobody showing up related to a central theme in the book and some reasons of why these people didn't show up

In Great Gatsby why didn't Daisy Wolfsheim and others go to funeral. How does this relate to a central theme?
It shows that despite his illusion of popularity (big parties, mysterious reputation) there was noone who actually cared for Gatsby -- it shows how hollow his illusion really was.
Reply:nobody showed up to gatsby's funeral because he doesn't really have any friends. his entire life he has been trying to work himself up to a certain level of social status, so daisy would fall back in love with him. but he couldn't (the island he lives on is for people who have money, but no the social status, in contrast to daisy's) become a part of their society. all the people that he thought were his friends were all actually just using him, and nobody really wanted to give anything back to him.

as for the central theme, i kind of don't remember so i'm not really sure, but i think it's about how messed up and corrupted the "american dream" is. gatsby thought that he would have everything if he became rich, but he didn't. at the end, it turns out that he really had nothing, no family, no love, and no friends. i think?
Reply:%26gt;%26gt; The poor attendance at Gatsby's funeral exemplifies the ultimate failure of Gatsby to ever achieve what he wanted. The woman he loved was not present, she was off with her husband. None of the people who frequented the parties over the summer showed up and Wolfsheim, one of the few people who could be called a close friend to Gatsby, refused to attend. This can all be tied into the final quote about trying to grasp for that green light. The more Gatsby tried to obtain, the less he ended up with. Like the green light, it receded before him no matter how badly he wanted all of it.

%26gt;%26gt; The man with the owl eyed glasses (who lived at Gatsby's mansion for a time) does show up to the funeral, albeit late, but he shows up because he feels its morally right to do so ~ out of respect for the dead %26amp; not because he felt any close ties to Gatsby.
Reply:It reflects the "made-up" nature of Gatsby and his world.
Reply:i think it relates because everyone in the book are more or less fake people. none of them are actually friends and are all self conceded and don't care about anyone else. thats why they don't go to the funeral because they never cared about him in the first place.

How do you sight in a Tasco 4x15 scope on a Daisy pump bb gun?

To be more specific which direction to turn the windage and elevation screws on the scope?

How do you sight in a Tasco 4x15 scope on a Daisy pump bb gun?
Why would you bother? This scope or any for that matter far exceed the range of this weapon.
Reply:The easiest way to do it is to pump and load the gun, and then clamp the gun in a vice or similar device so it can't move. Place a target at about 20-30 ft away and then fire the gun. Then, while looking through the scope while the gun is still clamped down, adjust it until the cross hairs line up with the hole in the target that you just shot.
Reply:I have to agree with birdman (awesome nickname btw), it sounds like you have lost the bits on your bezels which tell you which way to turn them.

General points,

Bezel on the top is for elevation adjustments and the side is for windage.

The one shot and then adjust to your POI (Point of Impact) is the easiest way to go.

You have to ask yourself how accurate is a bb gun and if your only getting 2" groups at 30yards is it really worth it?

Have fun.
Reply:Use a large cardboard box and just put a dot in the center with a marks a lot. Line up on the dot and shoot find the point of impact where the BB hit. You may have to mark the spot where the BB hit with the marks a lot to make it easy to see. Sand bag or clamp the weapon down with the cross on the dot in the center of the box and move the screws till the get on the dot where you hit. Unclasp and aim at the center and see what you got. Don't expect a small group it's just not going to happen.
Reply:If you don't have a vise, rest the gun as securely as you can on a picnic table, etc. Pump the gun as many times as you plan to when you're shooting (10 times for hunting, etc.) Use pellets; they are much more accurate. Shoot 3 or 4 times to get a good idea of your point of impact.

Adjust your elevation first. Usually the elevation adjustment screw will be labeled up or down, but if not, clockwise is usually up.

Once you get your groups centered vertically, then proceed to adjust windage. Clockwise usually adjusts your point of impact to the right.

Be careful not to bump your scope or you will have to start all over. These little scopes aren't very durable. Make sure all scope screws are tight before you start.
Reply:you turn the knobs in the direction that the bullet hit.

If you aimed straight at the bull's eye, but you hit high, you would click in the UP direction. If you also hit to the left of the bulls eye, you'd click LEFT. You are basically adjusting the crosshairs to point to where the bullet actually hit.

The turrets should be marked. Note, most turrets are covered with a screw cap, which you need to take off, then use a dime or thumbnail or a screwdriver to actually make your adjustments.

Note, the scope should say exactly how many clicks equal a certain movement of the crosshairs. This is usually 1/4 or possibly 1/2 inch at 100 yards. I recommend stetting up your target at 10 yards, this means 10 clicks will move the crosshairs enough to change the point of impact by 1/4 of an inch. 40 clicks would move it an inch. Bring along a ruler, measure, convert to clicks, and click away.

Also, shoot a few shots, and pick out the center of the group before moving the crosshairs. If your shots are all over the target, the scope is probably not mounted tight enough in the rings, or the ring bases are not mounted tight enough to the rifle.

Final note, you need to make sure you are using a scope designed for air rifles. Air rifles recoil in a different manner, they actually jerk forward a little bit, or at least piston driven ones do, while most rifles recoil backward. The scope will have some internal parts shake loose if you put an air rifle scope on a rimfire firearm, or if oyu put a rimfire scope on an air rifle
Reply:y would u put a scope of that power on a bb gun u handi tard! like my god, i used a 3x9x32 and that was more then enough for me. not only that but y would u pay that for a scope 4 a bb gun!

Why did the author of the great gatsby give daisy her name?

daisy is white and golden, shes pale and blonde. shes bright and full of sunshine. she is fragile and can be torn apart piece by piece. i need a lot more things by tonight. i need to write a long paragraph on why the author gave daisy that name.

Why did the author of the great gatsby give daisy her name?
like the flower, a daisy is white and golden yellow colour, its nice and warm and golden inside with white, angelic sides to her as a character, the goldeness of the flower could signyfy her hair and the paleness of her skins the daisy petals, and Diasys come out in the sunshine, A daisy can easily be torn apart piece by peice by anyone - a daisy is also full of Purity and innocence - just like Daisy in the book.

Hope ive helped you greatly :)

Where can I find just the cap for Marc Jacobs perfume Daisy?

I bought a tester bottle of Marc Jacobs Perfume but it did not come with the cap. I LOVE the cap! But I only paid $30 for a 3.4 oz bottle ((which would be $70 for brand new)). Does anyone know where I can get the cap or will the cap from the mini bottle of Daisy fit on the big bottle? Thanks :)

I got a Daisy plant that I intend to keep indoor, how should I take care of it?

I normally wouldn't have an outdoor plant inside but I loved the color of it. I don't have anywhere to plant it outside so I am going to keep it inside. Any special instructions on how I should take care of it? Watering, sunlight, anything to make up for it being indoor? Thanks for any help!

I got a Daisy plant that I intend to keep indoor, how should I take care of it?
Some plants that we think of as being outdoor plants actually do quite nicely indoors. I've had great success with both impatiens (try those, they still bloom like crazy!) and hosta (!!!). I've never done a daisy but I would suspect that the main thing they would require would be a LOT of light. I also wouldn't expect it to bloom all year round and would plan on shearing way back when it is done blooming, in order to keep it from getting all weedy and leggy. Certainly it's worth trying though and if it doesn't last forever, so what? You'll still have gotten a lot of pleasure out of it.

My gerbera daisy plant has some kind of white fuzz on its leaves and is drooping. Is it dying? How to save it?

My poor flowers are completely bent over and sad looking. I've only had the plant for a week. Although outside it's pushing 110 degrees, they are indoors and in the shade with water every other day. There is a white fuzz appearing on the leaves over the last three days. Any suggestions on how to save this plant? Or is this normal for this kind of flower?

My gerbera daisy plant has some kind of white fuzz on its leaves and is drooping. Is it dying? How to save it?
Sounds like powdery Mildew.. You can by antifungal agents at a garden center.. Daconil is a brand that comes to mind, but I can't remember if it's good for powdery mildew or not. Get a recommendation from the seller or read the directions over for use guidelines.

PM can kill gerberas, absolutely. Fungus is bad this year because of lots of humidity and heat.. hope this helps.
Reply:That is a fungal infection. Try spraying it with some sulfur and leave it out to get some air. Don't overwater it. In fact, it may even have developed root-rot. Repot in brand new soil and water less often. You may be able to save it
Reply:the fuzzy stuff is a fungus growing it is growing because you have it inside, in the shade and your watering it too much. gerbers like to be outside and they like the sun and heat, and not alot of water. once gerbers get too wet they do rott and sometimes they come out of it but usually they die. if i were you i would go take the plant outside (leave it in the pot its in now) put it in morning sun and forget about it for a few days. i needs to dry out. if it does make it--cut of old nasty leaves ASAP

How much it be to buy Daisy's in bundles and have them dyed?
Try buying some white flowers and letting them stand overnight with food colouring in the water. Cut about an inch of the bottom - make a diagonal cut to allow air bubbles to roll off. I know this works with carnations.

Good luck, hope this helps!

I think I overwatered my Gerber Daisy. All of a sudden all the flowers have wilted over and died. Is there?

anything that I can do to save this flower or is it already too late.

I think I overwatered my Gerber Daisy. All of a sudden all the flowers have wilted over and died. Is there?
if its overwatered try letting it dry out a bit if its still wilting i guess its gone too far you can tell if the roots are dead they go a brown colour as apposed to a healthy white the best way to water a plant is to wait till leaves feel slightly limp water thouroughly hen let it drain or lift the pot up if its light and compost feels dry water it
Reply:Allow it to dry out. Gerberas are pretty resillient. Perennial in zone 8. Mine are in the ground, full sun.

Could it be the flower is going to seed - it's done - deadhead.
Reply:If the leaves are still ok then try and get as much water out of the soil by tilting the pot(if it's in a pot). Give it a few days ands see if it recovers. You didn't say where you live. Climate might be a factor.

Is it OK to dryfire a Daisy BB gun?

I have a Daisy model 840 Grizzly BB gun with a camoflauge finish. It also shoots pellets. Does it hurt the gun to dryfire (shoot the gun without any ammo)? I understand that air guns do not have firing pins, which would definitely be damaged by dryfiring.

Is it OK to dryfire a Daisy BB gun?
It won't hurt it. But becareful. Some BBs guns are fed by pouring the BBs into a feeder and it is difficult to determine if they are unloaded.
Reply:dry firng any gun doesn't hurt it really, it's if you keep doing it all the time that'll hurt it, once and a while it's okay. I dry fire every new gun before I buy it, the sales people actually tell me to. Dry firing a bb gun isn't ever going to hurt it.
Reply:Yeah, like what one of the above people said, it doesn't hurt the gun unless if you do it every five minutes. If you do, do it every five minutes then you might eventually wear down the mechinisms and other moving parts that are in it.

The gist of the above is that its fine to do it every now and then.
Reply:No. It will not hurt the air gun. However always treat it as if it is loaded and never dry fire it toward someone. Serious injury or possible death could occur if it is in fact loaded. Accidents do happen.
Reply:It should be ok because there it no fireing pin in it.
Reply:It won't hurt it at all because there is no firing pin in it.
Reply:Be careful, dry firing some air guns CAN BE BAD. Fortunately your gun can be dry fired. Co2 guns can be

dry fired, pump pneumatics can be dry fired. Spring piston

guns CANNOT BE DRY FIRED. I don't know where these

people who don't know the mechanics of air guns tell you

you can dry fire a air gun just because it doesn't have a firing

pin. All air guns don't have firing pins, but that doesn't mean you can dry fire them. Dry firing a spring piston air gun can

cause piston slam and ruin the piston seal. If you don't know how to take apart a spring powered air gun correctly, which most people don't, you end up spending more money sending it out to an air gunsmith, if they know any. In which case you end up with a ruined air gun that you throw away.

Just be careful, not everyone is knowledgeable in air gun

technology.

If you plant a daisy, when will they grow in?

Daisies are biannual. They don't bloom the first year, do bloom second season. Seeds germinated on a wet paper towel in a plastic bag should sprout in 7 to 14 days, transplant to peat pots (or small 2" pots), when you see roots coming out of the bottom, transplant to ground.

Direct sowing 2 seeds per "hole", don't allow to dry out especially critical in seedling stage when most vulnerable to extremes in climate.

How do I deal with fungus on my gerberia daisy?

I got this gerberia for Secretary's day and it's been sitting on my desk. Otherwise, it seems perfectly healthy. I just cut off the blooms it came with and some baby flowers are shooting up. About a week ago it started showing white powdery stuff on its leaves and it seems to be spreading. Where the powder is thickest, the leaves are also turning black. What should I do?

How do I deal with fungus on my gerberia daisy?
"Powdery mildew is common on woody plants including roses, crape myrtles, euonymus, dogwood and oak, as well as herbaceous plants such as verbena, phlox, monarda, and gerbera daisy."

"Reduce humidity by increasing air circulation.

...

Remove affected stems or leaves from the plant to reduce disease pressure."

There are also fungicides you can use safely, but I would recommend the above firstly.

I am making daisy cookies and need a hardening icing recipe...Does anyone have any good ones??

Also, would it be okay to add food coloring to the recipe or would the extra liquid ruin the hardening effect??

I am making daisy cookies and need a hardening icing recipe...Does anyone have any good ones??
Just make a simple buttercream frosting and add your yellow food coloring after you have about the spreading consistency that you want. A thinner frosting will set "harder". Don't put in much coloring. Start with a drop or two and stir it in. Add more if the color isn't what you want. But the few drops won't change the overall consistency.

Simple buttercream: 1/2 stick butter, softened plus 3 cups confectioners sugar - cream together. Add 1 tsp. vanilla and 2 Tbs. milk and then see if you want it thinner. Add food coloring and stir completely.
Reply:The royal icing recipie will set much better and harder than the buttercream icing, buttercream is just that, creamy....
Reply:You want to make Royal Icing:

2 large egg whites

2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice

3 cups (330 grams) confectioners (powdered or icing) sugar, sifted

Desired food coloring

Combine first 3 ingredients in a bowl. Beat the egg whites with the lemon juice. Add the sifted powdered sugar and beat on low speed until combined and smooth. Icing will be be opaque white (flower petals). Add a drop or two of yellow food coloring to achieve desired color for the center of the daisy. The icing needs to be used immediately or transferred to an airtight container as royal icing hardens when exposed to air.

I'm looking for a good picture of a daisy for a tattoo?
There's a bunch, already tattoos, on the tattoojohnny site

I really like the colors of this one, but it looks too large:

From a temporary tat site:

And here's one actually on someone's toe:

http://www.ladylinetattoo.org/LadyLineTA...

A word of caution - not against getting a tattoo, but about taking care to avoid complications. Some tattoo artists won't do tats on feet because they (the feet) are often very subject to infections. If you get one on your toe, just take extra care to avoid the risk of infection and messing it up.
Reply:Tell the artist you want a daisy for a tatoo and he will tattoo one. Ask a tatooist to trace a picture for your big toe.

How do I make/start a daisy chain?
Is this what you are looking for?

http://beadwork.about.com/library/weekly...
Reply:Here, I think this might be what you're looking for. Instructions are by Ann Benson, respected professional designer in the bead community. Comes in PDF format, so you'll need to download Adobe Reader for free.
Reply:Here's how I learned:

1) String eight seed beads.

2) Go back through the first bead.

3) String one seed bead.

4) Look at how your beads lay. The thread that the most recent bead is one should lay between two of the other beads. Find the two beads opposite these, and go through one of them.

5) string two beads.

6) Remember those two beads I told you to find? Go through 'em.

7) Go through the two beads you just strung.

8) Add six seed beads, repeat steps one through seven until you've reached the desired length.

Note: this looks quite similar to one of the links someone posted, except the joining of each daisy is a lot sturdier and looks a bit better.

Daisy or Brownie Girl Scout Leaders: Question about Bridging?

I am the leader of a Daisy troop that will be bridging to Brownies this May. I was pricing out Brownie vests and other necessities for the bridging ceremony and came upon a "Bridging To Brownies" patch. Where does this patch go? Does it go on the Daisy smock or the Brownie vest? I'm just trying to decide if it's worth while to purchase the patches. Thanks.

Daisy or Brownie Girl Scout Leaders: Question about Bridging?
These go on the Brownie vest. They are an absolute necessity for the Brownie vest is you go through the steps to earning the bridge. Of course a girl can be a Daisy and then a Brownie without doing these steps, but if the girls have earned the Bridging requirements, they deserve to have this on their Brownie vest (or sash).

Talk to your coach. If you don't have one, then call your council and they will advise you.

As a third time Daisy leader, I STILL hate asking for patch money from the parents (since Daisies don't sell cookies or have money earning activities as of now).

I would rank the Daisy Bridging patch up there with making sure that they have their World Association Pin.

Of course, it means nothing unless you, as a leader tell them the importance. I make sure all of my girls in my troops KNOW the significance of what they wear pin and patch and badge-wise (as well as they can at whatever age they are) Otherwise, it IS just wasted money unless the girls find meaning. It IS about the girls and what they take from their experience.

I strongly suggest this patch as long as you take the time to earn it with them.

'I looked back at my cousin who began to ask me questions in her low, thrilling voice. It was the kind of voice that the ear follows up and down as if speech is an arrangement of notes that will never be played again. Her face was sad and lovely with bright things in it, bright eyes and a bright passionate mouth-- but there was an excitement in her voice that men who had cared for her found difficult to forget: a singing compulsion, a whispered "Listen," a promise that she had done gay, exciting things just a while since and that there were gay, exciting things hovering in the next hour.'
