Put a small slit in the stem then slide another stem through the slit.Continue the process then knot the last one.I used to do this all the time as a child. These and clover chains too:) Well don't I just look silly!!! Thanks for the memory though I had forgotten all about that!!;)
I am making "daisy chain bracelets" but i am clueless on where to start or finish! please help!?
When I did bead work 100 years ago, I would attach one end of the beading thread to the end of the bracelet clasp and go until it was the length I wanted it, then hook it to the other end and weave the thread bach about an inch. Don't know if that's what you meant or not.
Reply:http://www.bead-patterns.com/
this is the link for a great site.
It won't let me paste the page for daisy chain info, but all you do is go to the free category, and then do a search for "daisy" Be sure to check the box in the search that says "this category"
the free daisy chain instructions are easy to follow, free, and have good pictures. They will help a lot.
I often like to start mine with a loop of beads and end with a button. The loop will slide over the button and make a cute closure.

Great gatsby essay topic: daisy and gatsby love for eachother * please help?
ok so here is my essay topic that i need to write about:
Would you characterize diasys and gatsbys relationship as a love match? are they genuinely in love with one another or with something else. Discuss and explain fully
i need help starting off this essay and i also feel that daisy is inlove with him and the idea of hmi but i dont know which side to choose.
Great gatsby essay topic: daisy and gatsby love for eachother * please help?
The great gatsby was one of my favorite books in high school so hopefully I could help.
I truly believe that gatsby was in love with daisy. He put on partys hoping that she would show up.
Daisy might have loved him, but she was more in love with social status. She liked having money and being well off rather than being poor.
She already had her husband and daughter by the time Gatsby came back into her life, and even though she might have had feelings for Gatsby, she was not going to ruin what she had already established.

I've tried sowing daisy and buttercup seeds on my lawn to no success, any tips?? Really want meadow look!?
tRY GOING FOR THE PERFECTLY MANICURED LAWN LOOK. tHIS IS BOUND TO BRING IN THE DAISIES AND BUTTERCUPS
I've tried sowing daisy and buttercup seeds on my lawn to no success, any tips?? Really want meadow look!?
Pot the seeds and grow the shoots indoors, then replant..... it'll give them a better start
Reply:Wait a while and they will appear all by themselves!
Reply:Your doing it backwards. You have to clear the grass and cultivate your soil. Then put down your seeds, lightly cover them with soil, water. Keep them moist until they germinate . Then you can let the grass grow with them. The seeds won't do much the way your trying because they are fighting the grass roots for everything they need to grow.
Reply:sprinkle some hay over the top off the seeds....the birds are getting fat. ha!!! serious...it holds moisture, protects from hot sun...the seeds will sprout and grow right out thru the hay.
Reply:If your lawn is growing really well then the seed will not have a chance, the grass will crowd them out and cause them to die. You really need a rather neglected lawn for sucess, and preferably one that has not been fed, and most certainly not treated with weed killer.
Reply:IT SHOULD ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED THAT BUTTERCUPS - Ranunculus repens - is toxic plant. Belonging to the family of ranunculu, all of which are toxic. The handling Buttercups should never be taken lightly.
Reply:The meadow look and untended look comes from first tending the lawn. You should kill the grass (clear plastic in the heat of summer will kill it and all seeds in the ground) That will also soften the ground. This fall ask someone to till your lawn then in the spring sow your seeds and gently rake the dirt over them. Then sit back and wait. That should do it!
Reply:to get the meadow look . do nothing leave an area 2 to 3 feet from the edge of the lawn grow . do not cut the grass leave this area alone and weed seeds will self seed lawn daisy and buttercup are perennial weed .do not use fertiliser or weed and feed around the lawn.
if you get stuck you can have some of my weeds .lawn tip ie let your grass grow and raise the height of your cut to 3/4 of an inch this will allow weeds to get a grip of your lawn .
i hope this advice has been helpful .remember weeds are flowers in the wrong place goodluck
Reply:if it snows there wait til it is snowing and spread your seeds snow will cover them annd in spring as snow melts they will be in grond ready to grow are you sure you know what you are asking for

When is the next daisy chain run in the new forest Yamaha needs airing????
I stand to be corrected, but the very last Daisy Chain Run was 3 years ago.
The organisers pulled the plug, because the New Forest District Council were asking vast amounts of money to allow the bikes to park at Gang Warily.
If anyone has a website link for an '08 D.C.R. (not the Spitfire Run - that's a different route altogether), can they post it?

Why did the ballers wear their Basketball shorts like Daisy Dukes back in the days?
Why were their shorts so short? They looked like they had on teenage hoochie shorts. Bird, Magic, Wilt, and let's not even think about Barkley (Yuck). Why and when did they start wearing longer shorts?
Why did the ballers wear their Basketball shorts like Daisy Dukes back in the days?
They were short because they wanted to show of their leg muscles. It was deemed more "manly" back in those days. The shorts went long around the mid 90s, during the Jordan era. The changes were made to fit the current fashions, most likely with MJ's new line of clothing.
Reply:i would have to say that it was more "proper" to wear shorter shorts, because i know that dunking wasnt a "proper" thing to do. Wilt Chamberlin was really one of the first guys to dunk in game, and people hated it. nowadays nobody gives a hoot whats proper, and we have all of these ballers and stuff tryin to act gangsta, so they wear long shorts.
Reply:Maybe the question should be why do players today wear their shorts so long? If the best players of the game like Pistol Pete wore shorts why can't players today?

Daisy Scouts funding?
I have decided to be a leader for my daughter's year in Daisy Scouts. I have the leader's manual that states the Daisies cannot perform fundraisers. I do not want to nickel and dime the toher parents. How did you other Daisy leaders raise money?
Daisy Scouts funding?
Hello Aimee H:
When my daughter was a Daisy, the troop decided on a budget, and we wrote a check. The funds are tax deductible, and we didn't get fat eating a palate of cookies. I wish we could have done the same when she was a Brownie...
I would suggest that you pair up with a sister troop, and go in with them on outings. The Girl Scouts in your area will also offer low-cost things that the Daisies can attend.
Keep on Scoutin'
Reply:If you are trying to raise money to go on trips then you can't the girls are not old enough to do all that stuff they have to wait till they are brownies

Similarly is Daisy Duke the inventor of Daisy Dukes?
well sort of, the shorts are called that because daisy duke made wearing really short shorts popular, so they became known as "daisy dukes"... its kind of like how a person's signature is referred to as a "john hancock"

How do you daisy chain routers?
i have a wireless router and a non-wireless router. the wireless one is linksys-G and needs to be first (connected to the modem). I ran a long ethernet cable from the wireless router to my upstairs computer, but now, i need to connect another computer upstairs. without running another 100ft cord from my basement to my upstairs, can i just set up a belkin router up there and split the connection for another computer? running another cable up there would require a lot of work, cutting holes in the ceiling, respackling, repainting, and buying another 100ft cable.
how do i just connect the router and make it act only as a switch?
How do you daisy chain routers?
Connect one of the ports from your wired router into the WAN or Internet port of your wireless router.
This can be extremely difficult to do, and always creates more headache than it's worth.
You would probably have much better reliability if you were to use a network switch instead of the other router. Network switches (or hubs) are quite affordable these days.
Reply:All you need is the wireless router you already have and a new linksys wireless usb module. Your router can use both the wired and wireless internet sharing all at once so no worries about your old setup. Just enable your wireless capabilities on the router and plug the usb module into the new computer.
As for using the second router as a switch it wouldn't work. Your first router would assign the second router an IP of 192.168.1.xyz on the WAN port which would confuse it as this is what it will assign to the pc's in it's ports 1%26amp;2. If you only used the second routers numbered ports it wouldn't share the internet at all, treating its port as a computer not an internet feed. Hope this gives you some perspective.
Reply:Do NOT use 2 routers on the same network, a router is for passing local network traffic to the internet and back. The second one will try to do the same and will upset the network. All you need upstairs is a switch, this connects multiple machines to the cable.

Im writing an ESSAY on The Great Gatsby (fitzgerald)any help please focal points daisy buchanon and why Gatsby
why he was attracted to her
how she ditches him in the end
why she is so dumb and thought of as the american dream
help me please ideas sentences anything im desperate
thanks
Im writing an ESSAY on The Great Gatsby (fitzgerald)any help please focal points daisy buchanon and why Gatsby
gatsby was attracted to daisy because she was rich, beautiful, and there is a quote about this, the thought that she was with so many men appealed to gatsby.
she ditched him after she ran over myrtle, he stood outside her window the whole night, but she just told him to go away, i think she was just scared that she would be breaking away from 'old money' to live with 'new money' which was considered to be 'dirty' in a sence..
Daisy is really dumb because she is too influenced by money, gatsby even said, "her voice is full of money"
i don't know how she's an american dream, she's such an idiot, "you're an absolute rose..." ooh i can't stand her.
i hope that helps, we had to do a speech about gatsby for finals, and that's all i could remember from the books.
Reply:1. Gatsby was probably attracted to Daisy because she represented the life that he wanted to lead...she represented his view of the American dream. She was beautiful, "easy," naturally rich and charming. She represented the rich, carefree life that he wanted.
2. What do you mean how she ditches him? She goes back to her life with Tom, probably out of habit.
3. She is dumb, that is just her character. However, in Gatsby's eyes she is wonderful, and representes everything that the American dream stands for (see #1 and other previous answer given). Gatsby sees her as this amazing, wonderful treasure when really, she isn't worth it; she is simply a rich, pretty girl who entrances him.

How to bring the skeleton back to life with death daisy potion on sims 2 castaway?
The skeleton on the first beach can't be brought back to life, it is just there for aesthetic reasons. In order to make the potion to bring sims back to life, you need to first have a sim die. That is the only way to gather a death daisy, by harvesting it from their tombstone. Then you can concoct the potion and bring your sim back to life. :)

What is the origin of the phrase "ups-a-daisy"?
read this...
http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/ups-a...
What is the origin of the phrase "ups-a-daisy"?
Apparently, the phrase "whoops-a-daisy" came from a comic strip from 1925, and it meant "surprise or dismay, specifically upon discovering one's own error".
The phrases "oops-a-daisy" and "ups-a-daisy" come straight from "whoops-a-daisy", and according to phrases.org, "ups-a-daisy" was said "when a child, in play, is assisted in a spring-leap from the ground". Now, ups-a-daisy just means "Get up!" in an encouraging manner.
Hope that helped! See the sources for more info. Take care!

In Henry James' "Daisy Miller" how does Jay Winterbourne suffer as a result of his innocence?
I am writing a paper about why the characters Jay Winterbourne (Henry James "Daisy Miller"), the brother in James Baldwin's "Sonny's Blues", Jay Gatsby, and Nick Caraway in "The Great Gatsby" all suffer as a result of innocence. They are all similar to the women that suffered in the early 19th c. because they each have different morals which they go by in life, which are not the best morals to go by. This is just the way that they were taught and they each suffer because they do not know better. any ideas on examples backing this idea up?

The "Daisy Cutter" or "BLU-82" How is it delivered and what makes it so lethal?
It is parachute extracted from the rear of a C-130 and the lethality comes in two forms.
The first is the explosion and the second is the shock-wave.
It was originally designed for Vietnam to clear the ground for choppers to land.
The "Daisy Cutter" or "BLU-82" How is it delivered and what makes it so lethal?
It is delivered out of the back of a cargo plane, normally a C-130. What makes it so lethal is that it is a bomb that weights 15,000 pounds and contains 12,600 pounds of GSX.
It's not actually called a Daisy Cutter. The Daisy Cutter refers to the fuse assembly that is used to detonate the weapon slightly above the ground.
It's unguided, and normally was used only to clear places in the jungle to land helos for the Army and Marines.

The Great Gatsby Novel: Why does Daisy always speak in such exaggerated phrases?
Daisy so far.. doesn't seem to be in the book much. So.. I'm not quite sure why she exaggerates so much.. anyone has any ideas?!
The Great Gatsby Novel: Why does Daisy always speak in such exaggerated phrases?
Daisy becomes and is one of the main characters in the book. Fitzgerald has her speak in such exaggerated language to accentuate her superfluous behavior and how really simple minded she is. One of the elements that you will discover as her character starts to develop is how shallow she really is, and how Gatsby stoops to shallow things to impress her. The exaggerated language only reinforces how stupid she really is.
If you really want to understand, see the 1974 film version with Mia Farrow playing Daisy. She does a great job of being incredibly annoying and really displaying how foolish Daisy is.

Has anyone ever read Daisy Miller by Henry James??
I am doing my summer reading assignment on this book, and it often hard to understand. I have a few questions that I need some perspective on. If you could help that is very much appreciated.
1. Winterbourne could be considered a naive but sensitive person. In what area is he inexperienced?
2. What experiences teach Winterbourne new things about people?
3. What has Winterbourne learned about himself and others?
Has anyone ever read Daisy Miller by Henry James??
no

What are some good girl guitar brands i.e. Daisy Rock?
im especially looking for an acoustic/electric guitar. at a low prices
What are some good girl guitar brands i.e. Daisy Rock?
Daisy Rock guitars are marketed to girls and they are fairly cheap and really no different from other guitars in the same price range. A good guitar can be cheap and doesn't have to say Fender of Gibson on it. The Samick company makes the majority of guitars in the world and you find them with all kinds of name plastered on them and they are all pretty much the same. Look for one you like, that fit's your hands and has the sound you want in the price you can afford and forgetabout the name. Go to a peputable dealer, check out several music stores to see what's available.
Reply:Guitars don't have gender. And a good female musician who wants to play guitar will not be looking for a special model. Those hot rockin' females like Patti Smith and the Quattro sisters never wanted girl, they wanted a high-quality instrument that was easy to shred.
So look, you want acoustic electric? My own preference is Ovation, but many hate the brand and want something all wood instead, like Gibson or Martin or Alverez or Washburn.
Do you know anyone who plays guitar? If not, maybe you want to meet some who play in the style you'd like to perform. Then get their help when guitar shopping.
Get them to go along with you to pawn shops and guitar shops. Pull several guitars off the racks and play each one to see how you like the touch and feel of the strings and fingerboard. Then when you have a few guitars that feel good, have your friend play each one while you turn your back and listen; the one that sounds best when you're not looking at it is the one you want.
A knowledgable guitar player can help you find bargains and can tell you if the action is high, the neck is warped, etc.
In the end, no brand of guitar is automatically the right one (a few are the wrong ones)--it depends on your personal taste and vision of what you want to sound like. And mid-priced guitar brands can be inconsistent--play several of the same model of Yamaha acoustic, for example, and you'll probably find one that's much better-sounding than the rest.
So happy shopping!

I had a pet rat named daisy who fell of the top of her cage that's 3 feet tall and died!!!?
I was wondering if i should cut off the top of the cage and replace it with card board so my next rat can fall 3 feet down and also more shavings so if it falls on the side of the cage it will be a bit more coushny.
I had a pet rat named daisy who fell of the top of her cage that's 3 feet tall and died!!!?
well i'm gonna have to disagree slightly with some of these answers that say rats don't fall easily. some of my rats think they can go anywhere and do whatever they set their minds to and actually pretty regularly will find a way to fall off of things :) (maybe my rats are just really clumsy, i dunoo) i do agree though that something else most likely happened to her because 3 ft isn't very high up, and i'm sorry to hear about your loss.
Reply:Rats don't very easily fall, and three feet isn't very high of a distance to die instantly. I'm willing to bet that something else killed her and made her fall, such as a heart attack or aneurism. Did you actually see her fall? If not, it may have been many other things.
For more information about rat care, please visit my website (link in profile) or feel free to email me with your rat questions by clicking the link in my profile.
Reply:I find it hard to believe it dies from the fall. I've had rats for about ten years, and they have,on occasion, fallen off my shoulder, which is 5+ feet tall, and none have ever died.
Reply:I would put cushioning all around the cage and put it on top of it too.
Reply:No don't replace it with cardboard, the rat will only chew it and escape.
I think what happened was very rare and you probably don't have to worry about it happening again.
Chances are, the new rat will be fine.
Reply:well if it fell off of the cage, it probably had a stroke or a heart attack and thats what killed it, as rats don't fall very easily and when they do, 3 feet wouldn't kill them
Reply:Well...I had my rat's in a ferret nation cage, which is like..erm..5 ft tall?
No one ever fell, I'm going to go with what the last person said and it probably had a stroke or something to cause it to fall, as they are not the most clumsy of animals, they balance pretty well.
But, I'd take some precautions when you get another one.
Try to make the cage a Little safer.
Reply:great lesson for you! put the cage lower in the room and provide a rat-proof cover for it.
Reply:Three ft!!!! Is that really necessary? Ugh, get a smaller cage!

What about the names Jasper for a boy and Daisy for a girl?
Jasper is an English form of Gaspar or Caspar, the name of one of the Three Kings or Magi.
Daisy is a pet name for Margaret, based on the similarity between this name and the French name of the flower: marguerite. (Margaret is actually from a Greek word meaning 'pearl'.)
I actually kinda like both of them, but especially Jasper. (I know someone named Jasper, and he's an all-around nice guy.)

Absolutely great - two lovely traditional names, but also realtively uncommon (without being made-up, foolishly spelt, pretentious or 'ghetto')

Of course, if you really like Jasper... go with your instinct! No matter what name you choose, you'll find people who don't care for it.

What is the scientific term for the process of daisy changeing color due to food color in water?
Capillary action .
Capillary action is a physical effect caused by the interactions of a liquid with the walls of a thin tube. The capillary effect is a function of the ability of the liquid to wet a particular material.
The liquid for which this effect is most commonly seen is water, because water is capable of strong surface interactions and because water is ubiquitous.
Capillary action is important for moving water and all of the things that are dissolved in it. It is defined as the movement of water within the spaces of a porous material due to the forces of adhesion, cohesion, and surface tension.
Capillary action occurs because water is sticky - water molecules stick to each other and to other substances, such as glass, cloth, organic tissues, and soil. Dip a paper towel into a glass of water and the water will "climb" onto the paper towel. It will keep going up the towel until the pull of gravity is too much for it to overcome. Because water is sticky, when you spill you glass of water on the table, it stays as a nice puddle instead of spreading out onto the floor
What is the scientific term for the process of daisy changeing color due to food color in water?
The daisey is basically drinking the water that has color in it. The water goes up the stem through osmosis and capillary action.

Are Princess Daisy and Princess Peach related?
My little sister was playing Super Mario Strikers and wondered if Princess Daisy was related to Princess Peach.
Wikipedia doesn't say, so I figured I'd just ask here.

They ARE NOT cousins. They're just 2 different princesses from 2 different kingdoms.

Quotes from great gatsby about him and daisy's relationship?
Page 92 "There must have been moments even that afternoon when Daisy tumbled short of his dreams — no through her own fault but because of the colossal vitality of his illusion. It had gone beyond her, beyond everything. He had thrown himself into it with a creative passion…"
Page 107 "when he…wed his unutterable visions to her perishable breath, his mind would never romp again like the mind of God."
"He wanted to recover something, some idea of himself perhaps, that had gone into loving Daisy. His life had been confused and disordered since then, but if he could once return to a certain starting place and go over it all slowly, he could find out what that thing was."- Ch. 6
"It excited him, too, that many men had already loved Daisy--it increased her value in his eyes."- Ch. 8
Also, Gatsby was truly in love with Daisy right before he went to war. After 5 years had passed, Gatsby had this image in his own mind that Daisy was absolutely perfect and flawless. But when Gatsby met Daisy again at Nick's house, he was still was in love with her but she was not as perfect and flawless as he had made her out to be.

Does anyone know the name of those bright yellow daisy flowers with the dark center?
Sounds like Black-Eyed Susan (aka Orange Coneflower). Some nurseries will use the botanical name, Rudbeckia.
Good luck, hope that's what you're looking for. Google it and you will find pictures. BTW- it's unbelievably easy to grow!

Reply:daisies are beautiful flowers (looking like a face staring at you) in many different colours and sizes. Some are annuals but there are varieties which are perennial. The perennials are self-seeding and spread fast in the area. I had them in the rose bed and now I cannot get rid of them. When I miss digging them out from rose be, they grow fast with beautiful flower show off so I become reluctant to dig them out and the cycle continues. I give a lot to my neighbours and they may think that I am generous. Little do they know that I am just trying to find a place` for these spreaders away from my garden. But they are still beautiful. I wish they just would not overtake my roses and kill them.
Oops, I meant pansies and not daisies.

Daisies are among the most popular of flowers. Daisies belong to the Daisy Family of Compositae, now known as Asteraceae in flowering plants. Daisy flowers are simple, sophisticated and attract every one. Simply put, Daisies are one of nature's finest accomplishments. Daisies are native to north and central Europe.

What are three specialized cells in a daisy???
What are their functions?
THANK YOU!!!
What are three specialized cells in a daisy???
The basic epidermis cells, i.e. the least specialized cells constitute the largest group of dermal cells. They seem either polygonal or elongated in top view. Their walls are often wavy or sinuate. It is unknown, what induces this shape during development, since the explanations given by the existing hypotheses seem insufficient. Elongated epidermis cells can be found at organs or parts of organs that are elongated themselves, like stems, leaf petioles, leaf veins or leaves of monocots. The epidermises of the leaf's upper- and undersurface may have different structures. The shape of the cells, the thickness of the walls as well as the distribution and number of specialized cells (guard cells and trichomes) per area may all vary. Wide varieties of different cell shapes may even exist in species of a single family, e. g. in the Crassulaceae family

i have a simliar bod like this already. but i really need to tone up.
what exercises[strength and cardio] should i do to see results?
How can i get a bod like jessica simpson as daisy duke?
You should work on exercises that specifically target the areas you want to tone up (crunches for abs, weights for arms, etc). I've learned alot from workout-videos that specifically target the areas I was working on. You can also learn alot about this if you go to a gym on a regular basis.
I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I too look alot like the pictures you posted above, and I know for me it is because of my physically demanding job, I do a LOT of walking (I literally climb mountains for a living), and reasonable diet. Dont eat sweets ( a LITTLE is OK every now and then), eat lots of fruit and veggies, eat lots of protien (low-fat cheese, lean meat), and not too many carbs.
If you don't do a lot of physical work, it really helps to join a gym, so you get exercise on a regular basis.

Reply:Eat healthy, not junk foods. Do cardio work a few days a week, and lift weights. Cardio doesn't cut it alone. Girls won't get bulky like guys so don't worry about it. For some exercises, do various ab exercises every day, and get a full body workout in 3-4 days a week (2 upper, 1 or 2 lower) and make sure you rest in between some days. Do 12-15 reps on your lifts, and keep working at it. Talk to someone at a local gym and get started on a program to get that body you want. I was a little broad on everything, but as long as you keep at and don't skip days, you'll reach your goal. It's not the program so much, its the effort you give it.
Reply:I’d have answered your question but I didn’t understand what the “Bod” actually is. Can you explain that to me please?
Reply:Diet and exercise! Lots of cardio.. you won't tone up unless you lose fat by doing cardio.

What is the conversation between daisy and tom about at the end of chapter 7?
Ah, The Great Gatsby. This book is one of my personal favorites. I dug through my room to find it and explain this to you. Okay, this chapter is extremely important, especially the conversation that takes place. This is when Daisy and Tom discuss their intimate lives. This is brought about by Gatsby, of course. Gatsby makes Daisy confess to Tom that she never loved him but Tom makes statements that make Gatsby lose his dream of obtaining Daisy. I don't really know any other way to sum it up for you other than that. Gatsby's plan was to get Daisy and would do so by making her tell Tom what she earlier confessed to him. His plan backfires, however, when Tom talks of the intimacy between he and Daisy.
What is the conversation between daisy and tom about at the end of chapter 7?
More of an explanation please?
What book? Who are Daisy and Tom?
I would say, read the book or at least the end of Chapter 7 to figure out the answer. This is how you will do well in high school and college and, if you choose, grad school.
Doing homework is key to achieving more in your life. Reading will always be useful so do it.
Instead of going on Yahoo! Answers, next time read the book because you will get more out of it and you will be glad you did.
Good luck and read the book, you will probably end of enjoying it.
Reply:that girl. if you are old enough, you would know EXACTLY what hes talking about.
we dont know exactly what they are talking about. but from the chapter you can conclude that they are in this together. since they were holding hands across the table and she was nodding all the time. you can tell they were figuring the whole insident as a team

Does Anyone know if Daisy By Marc Jacobs Perfume is Tested on Animals?
the best way is to call them and ask them. they might try to weasel their way out of if by telling you that it's proprietary information. if so, it means theyre trying to hide something from the public.

I have a plant on my desk at work. I'm pretty sure it is Daisy's. White flowers with a yellow center.
They are looking very bad! How do I take care of them? I do not have a green anything and really don't want them to die.
Please help!!
I have a plant on my desk at work. I'm pretty sure it is Daisy's. White flowers with a yellow center.
If they are cut flowers, they will ultimately die. If it is a potted plant, remove flowers as they fade this encourages reblooming, remove yellowed leaves for aesthetic reasons, give mild fertilizer solution. Best office plants are those that don't require much sunlight: Impatiens, pothos, zebra plant, spider plant, there are lots.
Reply:Sounds like a kind of daisy. They need a lot of sun and most offices don't have it. They also don't like to be overwatered, so if they are very wet all the time, they are not happy. Best idea is to take them home and plant them outside.
Reply:I would take the plant home and cut it off about 2 inches from the bottom and put it in a sunny window and start fertilizing it about once amonth it will look pretty ugly for a little while but it will throw out new shoots and pretty soon it will look good again(I had a mum I just had to do this to) go to the grocery store and by a shamrock plant to put on your desk since st Padd'ys day is just around the corner! They are a nice bloomiing plant for the season.

Which Flower is prettier: A Daisy or a Lilly????????????
The daisy, there is something sweet and classic about it!
Which Flower is prettier: A Daisy or a Lilly????????????
There are many kinds of lilies. I'm thinking of the stargazer lily, which is big with several shades of pink on its pointed, star shaped petals.
To me, a daisy is fresh, innocent, perky, young. Pretty.
A lily is showy, sophisticated, classic, elegant. Lovely.
I prefer a lily to a daisy.
Reply:I SAY THE LILLY LILLYS ARE LOVELY AND INOCENT BUT A DAISY IN THE OTHER HAND IS ALSO VERY PRETTY BUIT IF UR GIVIN IT TO A FRIEND THEN I RECOMEND THE LILLY THEN SHE/HE WILL THINK UR A GREAT FRIEND AND U REALLY CARE ABOUT THEM:)

And she smells like Daisies.
Sweet thing she is.

What do you think of my sister daisy working on Eastenders now ?
I think it's an embarrassment to the family her mixing with those socially unacceptable people how can I get her to stop
What do you think of my sister daisy working on Eastenders now ?
It must be terrible for you,Daisy working with all those Cockneys.
But look on the bright side, she will have lots of celebrity gossip, you can pass on at your candlelit suppers.
Plus, she will get lots of invites to some swanky showbiz parties/award shows. If you could just persuade her to take you instead of Onslow.......you could feature in HELLO magazine, now that would impress the neighbours.

Tomato,daisy plants?
my questions is how do you take care of a tomato and a daisy plant. how many times do i have to water a daisy plant? and same thing for a tomato? please help me....
Tomato,daisy plants?
It's hard to tell you how often to water without knowing your conditions. With daisies, I'd stick a finger down about an inch into the soil and if it feels dry, go ahead and water. With tomatoes, heck those suckers can drink two gallons a day if they are large and it's hot out. Tomatoes like lots of water, but you need to make sure you have adequate drainage. Root rot could be a problem, but remember root rot isn't caused by water, it's caused by suffocation, that is, a lack of air getting to the roots. Goodluck!
Reply:water the daisy plant only as needed.....water the tomatoe plant everyday because the more water the bigger the tomatoe

Where does the saying "oops a daisy" come from?
God I really hate people who answer questions that they have no pre knowledge of. They just go to a website and copy n paste a load of blah blah blah. If you dont know the answer then simply answer another question where you really have an idea of what you are on about. The asker can simply go to a sight and do the same. they might of already done this and are not happy with the sites answer that's why they are asking here. I HATE COPY N PASTERS LOL
Where does the saying "oops a daisy" come from?
I think it started when some clumsy clown managed to trip over a daisy. As he did so he exclaimed: "Ooops - a daisy!"
Reply:There are lots of forms of this expression: upsidaisy, upsa-daisy, upsy-daisy, and oops-a-daisy, variously hyphenated on the rare occasions they turn up in print. These days, it’s just a nonsense word. It’s said to a child as encouragement to get up again after falling over, or when somebody is picking it up. Though the one thing most versions have in common is a reference to a daisy, a flower is not involved.
The common origin of all of these is up-a-daisy, dating from the early eighteenth-century. An even earlier version is the English dialect up-a-day. This is just as nonsensical a phrase, but it does show that the final part of the modern expression is actually a corruption of day.
Its history is closely bound up with lackadaisical, which started out as the cry alack-a-day!, “shame or reproach to the day!” (that it should have brought this upon me), but which by the eighteenth century had turned into lackadaisy.
Alack-a-day! was once a passionate and heartfelt cry, but it degenerated over time into a flabby exclamation of unease over some minor upset. It seems to have provided the model for up-a-day, originally a dialect term that eventually made it back into mainstream English, albeit in modulated and variable form.
Reply:funny, i never thought of it as oops-a-daisy. just oopsy-daisy for the rhyme.

Meaning
An exclamation made when encouraging a child to get up after a fall or when lifting a child into the air.
Origin
It is difficult to choose which of the numerous variants of the expression to use as the heading of this piece. As with many words that are said to small children, it is more often a spoken term than one that appears in print and this has led to much inconsistency about how it is spelled. In fact, I can't think of a single term that appears in so many different spellings. For example:
Upsidaisy
Upsa daesy
Upsy-daisy
Oops-a-daisy
Oopsy-daisy
Hoops-a-daisy
The form in which it is now most commonly spoken and spelled is 'oops-a-daisy'. The first known printed record of any form of the term is in Clough Robinson's The dialect of Leeds and its neighbourhood, 1862:
Upsa daesy! a common ejaculation when a child, in play, is assisted in a spring-leap from the ground.
This was preceded by 'up-a-daisy', which has its own variations of spelling - 'up-a-dazy', 'up-a-daisey', etc. Jonathan Swift used this in his collection of letters, which was published in 1711 as The Journal to Stella:
Come stand away, let me rise... Is there a good fire? - So - up a-dazy.
ups-a-daisyThe earlier dialect term 'upaday', which has the same meaning, appears to be the source. The 'daisy' part is a fanciful extension of 'day', perhaps alluding to the child being on the ground amongst the daisies. Of course, the name daisy itself derives from 'day' - the flower, which closes at night and exposes its yellow centre in sunlight, was thought of as the day's eye.
Not content with spawning so many forms, ups-a-daisy also has a role in the coining of the word 'lackadaisical'. This first appears in the language in 1768 and can be traced backwards to 'alack-the-day', which dates to at least Shakespeare's usage of it in Romeo and Juliet, 1592:
Shee's dead, deceast, shee's dead: alacke the day!
In the next century, this mutated to the more familiar form 'lack-a-day', which is found in The Grounds %26amp; Occasions of the Contempt of the Clergy and Religion, by John Eachard, 1685:
'Lack a day! says one of the accomplish'd, in what a lamentable condition I have seen a mortal Clergyman.
In the middle of the next century we find 'lack-a-daisy', in Tobias Smollett's The Adventures of Roderick Random 1748:
Good lack-a-daisy! the rogue is fled!
This is a form of 'lack-a-day' with the ending taken from 'ups-a-daisy'. From 'lack-a-daisy', it isn't a long step, either in time or language, to 'lackadaisical', which is first recorded in Laurence Sterne's A sentimental journey through France and Italy, 1768:
Sitting in my black coat, and in my lack-adaysical manner, counting the throbs of it.
'Ups-a-daisy' is clearly also the direct source of 'whoops-a-daisy'. This has a different meaning and is an exclamation made after a stumble or other mistake. It is usually said by the perpetrator of the error and the saying out loud is a public acknowledgement, somewhat like 'mea culpa'. 'Whoops-a-daisy', and the shortened forms 'whoops' and 'oops', are all American in origin. The expression is first recorded, as 'Whoopsie Daisy!', in the New Yorker, in September 1925.
In the 1999 film Notting Hill, Hugh Grant's character falls over, saying 'whoops a daisies'. Julia Roberts' character then says:
"No one has said 'whoops a daisies' for fifty years and even then it was only little girls with blonde ringlets."
Maybe that's true in California, but it's rather surprising that the film's English screenwriter, Richard Curtis, gave her that line in a film set in London. Like many in the UK, I still use the phrase frequently, but, as a large middle-aged man with a small amount of straight brown hair, I don't qualify on any of Roberts' criteria.

I am writing this letter to wish you the best of luck on your marriage. I must go off to the war.
Something of that sort I would think...add some more kind words to make the letter longer.

Daisy miller by henry james Does each character's name not mean something such as Winterbourne,Daisy, randolph?
I find Winterbourne"s name to represent the fact that he is older than Daisy.Daisy is like a flower tossed by the wind,Randolf is rampant telling all running here and thee.

Yes, James loved to have fun with names, and many of his characters' names were very tongue-in-cheek. My favorite is Miss Barrace. Good luck -- you are on the right track!

Where can i buy laurence llewellyn bowen purple daisy wallpaper?
Try ebay. They sell everything and if they don't have that wallpaper they have wallpaper dealers selling wallpaper and you can ask them (who better to know where to buy it). Plus the prices on ebay are usually a lot less expensive then buying it in a store.
Good luck and good shopping

I have been asking about my dog Daisy who has been sick with lymphoma. Today I decided to put her down.?
Last night she lost control of her bowels and this morning she was bleeding from her eyes and her vulva. I decided it was time, even though she ate her dinner and was somewhat active. It was so hard and I am suffering now....it only happened a few hours ago. I hope she is at peace and knows that I love her. Does anyone know of ways to cope with this loss and grief?
I have been asking about my dog Daisy who has been sick with lymphoma. Today I decided to put her down.?
Hello JJ I'm so very sorry for the loss of your dog my heart goes out to you. The loss of beloved pet is very hard we all grieve differently losing my Pekingese to cancer 6 months ago broke my heart. I started doing something in memory for my dogs when I lost Maggie my female Pekingese 5 years ago her death was very hard she died young and suddenly I planted a tree in memory of her in my yard I put a small stepping stone in front of the tree with her name on it then i set her favorite toy next to the tree. This helped me so much I now do this for my dogs when they pass away. I don't know how or what to say to help you with the loss of your beloved dog it will take time and it's ok to be sad and to grieve I'm so very sorry for your loss.
Reply:I am very sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is so hard, but it does get a little better every day that goes by. My breeder told me that the best thing you can do when you have a dog that is going to pass or if your dog has already passed is get a new puppy. Some people may not think that this is a great idea or they may feel bad about it. But I can assure you it really does work because you get attached to the new puppy very quickly. I know that you will never replace daisy, but it is really great to have a new friend to keep you busy and help you get through this tough time.
Reply:I am so sorry, it is very tough to lose a pet. Years ago we lost a pet after he was hit by a car. You will grieve for her just like any family member, because they do become part of the family. Hold onto the thought she is not suffering anymore. They say when you lose a pet to replace them as soon as possible, but only when you are ready.
Reply:In our state and my fiele (funeral services) it is not at all unusual to have your pet cremated and keep the ashed in special pet urn, or ditribute them in special place you two had (the backyard, a park, etc.)
It was not cruel or cold of you to think what was best for your pet, I still remember when we chose to put our dog to sleep about ten years ago, due to age...... it's better to give your pet good times than to have their pain and life be difficult for both of you-- if only people where as feeling when it came to people...
My heart and prayers go out to you......
The link below gives info about pet los and even has pet prayers you can say in memory of your pet
Reply:going through the same thing right now. my dog has cancer in her mouth and can leave anytime now until i want to put her down if she is in a lot of pain. just remember she is in a better place and that what i have to tell myself when my dog passes. im in the 8th grade and i have my god since i was in the 1st grade. its hard to let go but we are going to have to all some time or another with our pets. :)
Reply:Sending you a hug and a prayer. So sorry for your loss.
I lost a dog today too. Freak accident. Perfectly healthy. Slipped on the floor and broke her back.
Try to remember as long as they live in our hearts they never really die.
How to cope... I wish I knew. My heart is breaking here too. Just wanted you to know someone else truly knows how you feel tonight.
Reply:I am so sorry to hear this. But I also comend you. You did the best thing you could of for Daisy. I know how it feels to loose a pet espically when the pet is so muched loved by their family. The way i have coped with loosing a pet is always reminding myself that they are in a better place and free of pain. And that one day i will see them again. It still take a very longtime to get over the loss but hopefully this will help set your mind at ease a little. God Bless
Reply:I am so sorry. I've seen many people post this rainbow bridge poem...and I finally decided to check it out. I was in tears....but I think it would be very comforting for you during this time. I'll keep you and Daisy in my thoughts.

Reply:So sorry about your loss. I lost my GSD who I was very attached to, about seven yrs ago. It was the hardest thing to let her go, but she was suffering a lot as well. You did the right thing for your dog.
That's one thing that will help you, to recognize how she was suffering compared to her quality of life. Dogs don't show their pain as easily as people but by what you described she was certainly in a lot of pain.
What helped me was to write to my dog, like writing a letter without thinking what I would say. Say anything I wanted to as if talking to her where she could understand, and I later wrote another that was a "good-bye" letter.
I made sure to take care of myself even when I didn't feel like it. I wrote a poem for her and put it behind a photo that is still displayed with photos of family including my current three dogs.
There's a site called "Rainbow Bridge". Here's a poem from it and other links:

There was a beautiful site with imagery to the poem "The Rainbow Bridge", but that site I won't link to because of a warning that the site may send spammy e-mails if you leave your e-mail there.
Reply:I am so deeply sorry, my heart goes out to you! My husband had to put down his 15 yr old Cockapoo 3 years ago. He was a fierce little boy. I came into "Boomers" life in the end. He taught me a great deal of patience, patience, patience! He was a tough puppy. We got up one morning and my husband made the call to the vet. Fo his last year of life he could no longer eat, see, hear, control his movements at all. I went with my hubby to put him down and they brought him back to us to say our last good bye. I was devasted and felt the end of the world had come. I cried my heart out that whole day and night. Called my friends, anyone who would hear my pain of our lost. I learned thru him what is unconditional love means. Our home was empty, sad and in a lot of pain in loosing this wonderful creature that had a life in him and gave us much more than we gave him. They are all God's creatures. That being said-2 days of complete davastation and sadness and much crying, my husband and daughter walked in the house with a 8 week old Siberian husky who did not replace Boomer but just took over his duties to fulfill our home once again with so my love and happiness and yes lots of bad puppy time! 3 years later after our beloved Boomer has been missed but not forgotten, we added another little sister to our Husky(Missy)-she is a 12 pound Cockapoo who reminds us of our Boomer except that she turned out to be half his size but the same mentality! My husbband rescued her :) Things happen for a reason and "Boomer" decided that we would not forget him so here we are with what we say- "Casey came to us but it's Boomer all over again". The moral to the story , you don't forget them or replace them- just love them and there are so many to love! I hope this will help. Our thoughts and prayers are with you!
Reply:So sorry for your loss. I know what you are going through as I had to have my 10 year old dog put to sleep in January. I will tell you that I still think of her every day, and it still hurts that she is not here with me. I know that what I did was the right thing to do and that she is now in a better place where she can run free of pain. I still cry for her, but as the months go by the pain lessens when I think of her and only the fond memories remain. I found a poem which helped me and I'm passing it on to you with the sincere hope that it will help you too. My heart goes out to you in this time of sorry and loss. Just go ahead and cry, find some people who you can talk to about your beloved dog and remember the happy times you had together.
FROM FRIEND TO FRIEND
You're giving me a special gift,
So sorrowfully endowed,
And through these last few cherished days,
Your courage makes me proud.
But really, love is knowing
When your best friend is in pain,
And understanding earthly acts
Will only be in vain.
So looking deep into your eyes,
Beyond, into your soul,
I see in you the magic, that will
Once more make me whole.
The strength that you possess,
Is why I look to you today,
To do this thing that must be done,
For it's the only way.
That strength is why I've followed you,
And chose you as my friend,
And why I've loved you all these years...
My partner 'til the end.
Please, understand just what this gift,
You're giving, means to me,
It gives me back the strength I've lost,
And all my dignity.
You take a stand on my behalf,
For that is what friends do.
And know that what you do is right,
For I believe it too.
So one last time, I breathe your scent,
And through your hand I feel,
The courage that's within you,
To now grant me this appeal.
Cut the leash that holds me here,
Dear friend, and let me run,
Once more a strong and steady dog,
My pain and struggle done.
And don't despair my passing,
For I won't be far away,
Forever here, within your heart,
And memory I'll stay.
I'll be there watching over you,
Your ever faithful friend,
And in your memories I'll run,
...a young dog once again.
Reply:JJ, I don't think I can say much to make you feel any better, but I do want to say how very sorry I am, for the loss of your best friend! Losing an animal and having to make the decision to do what's best for them, is probably going to be one of the most heartbreaking decisions, you will ever have to make, and no one wants to make a decision like that. I'm sure she is at peace, and I'm also sure that she knows that you love her. It's going to take some time, to get used to the fact that's she's no longer here. She will always remain deep in your heart and no one can take that away from you.She may be gone, but she will never be forgotten. My prayers are with you! Here is a little something that may help, just a little, until you both meet again at the Rainbow Bridge!
