When a Gerbera Daisy individual flower stem dies, what do you do? Cut if off & from where?

These are pretty nice plants, outside in a pot. The plant seems healthy and there are other flowers, still alive. Do you cut it off at the bottom (entire stem) or do you deadhead it like a geranium? I don't want to kill the plant -- I want it to keep blooming over and over again.

When a Gerbera Daisy individual flower stem dies, what do you do? Cut if off %26amp; from where?
As close as possible to its base. Any stalk left on can harbor disease.
Reply:if you cut the stem the roots will get more strength and new ones will come up .
Reply:Cut it off at the bottom.

I am looking for directions on how to create a daisy stitch by way of crochet.?

I am trying to create a crochet baby ensemble using a daisy stich pattern and the explanation that I have at this time on how to create the stitch seems overly confusing. I consider myself to be an intermediate crocheter but the directions I have are confusing and not exactly easy to grasp. If anyone knows of an easier and less complicatied explanation please let me know. I will be greatly appreciative!

Where can I find some good daisy appliques or faux daisies to sew or iron on a shirt?

I need some white daisies with yellow middles. A pack of these would be preferable. I've looked on Ebay and searched with Google, but I haven't found much, so maybe I don't know how to look. I'm doing this for a costume, I just want to put a bunch of them on a shirt.

My local Michael's craft store had a bunch of these. Fabric stores carry these in the notions area, and sometimes they can be found at WalMart.

Or you can try laughing lizard, an on line store that specializes in iron on appliqués and has literally thousands of them, from flowers to dragons to mushrooms. Here's the start page of the floral appliqués they have over a hundred different florals: http://www.laughinglizards.com/flowers-c...

How can I get rid of Singapore Daisy weed in my garden?

Fast growing ground creeper, with yellow flowers and dark green leaves. It grows really fast and seems to love being weeded!

How can I get rid of Singapore Daisy weed in my garden?
Roundup will work, but only in the short run.... iwould recomend finding a company that does a preemergant service.

Pre emergant is prayed on your landscape and will stop SEEDS from germinating... it works very well and makes tyour weed pulling alot easier(picking on here and ther from time to time within a 6 month period)

look into it.

if you want to "act like you know everything about it to the company rep, ask them what preemergant chemical they use. There are 2 kinds i know of 1. Pendullum 2. Barracade.

Barracade works alot better, so just browse around.

What is the literary device used by F. Scott Fitzgerald to capture the essence of Daisy through her voice?

Half a lifetime ago when I read The Great Gatsby in highschool, our English teacher told us the name of the literary technique whereby an author captures the essence of an entire character with a single attribute - for instance, Daisy with her lilting, melodic voice - the voice that was "full of money!"

I suppose it could be said that Nabokov also captured Lolita with her name in that memorable opening passage... "She was Lo, plain Lo, in the morning, standing four feet ten in one sock...[but] Dolores on the dotted line..."

I think it's a wonderful device and for several years I have struggled to remember the name of it, and have searched for it online to no avail. Can one of you fine English scholars help me remember?

Thank you!

What is the literary device used by F. Scott Fitzgerald to capture the essence of Daisy through her voice?
I think Daisy is a paradox. She is exactly the opposite of how she sounds. Pax - C
Reply:Well, I think it might depend on what literary critic you are reading. T. S. Eliot would say Fitzgerald had found an objective correlative for Daisy in the sound of money.
Reply:I think you'd better call your old English teacher! I teach high school English, and I've never heard of any such term, although I have noted the technique you're talking about.

My English bulldog Daisy has a red bumb on her eye does anyone know what it is?

Last weekend, at the cottage, I notice a red mark on Daisy's (my english bulldog) eye. Now, it's in the back corner (not the corner towards her nose) of her right eye, smaller then a dime, a redish pinkish colour, and to me, it looks like it's a scratch that has swollen up. Now of course as soon as I saw it, I went to the vet. She did an ink test (to test if it was a scratch) and the whole red spot illuminate, meaning it's a scratch, right? But the problem is that the vet seemed unsure, which make me uneasy. I wanted to make sure that it would go away and it wouldn't make my baby go blind. The vet said she'd never sceen this before. She gave me a gel called: Tobrex. My bulldog is like a baby to me, so I'm a little worried. Has anyone ever had something like this? A red bumb on the eye? Do you think it's a scratch that just got a little irratated because some cottage sand? We for sure know it's not a cherry eye. Does anyone know what it is? Does it sound like something you know?

My English bulldog Daisy has a red bumb on her eye does anyone know what it is?
My Bulldog gets these allot and hes still a baby, its some sort of pimple like thing that grows on the eyelid my vet told me not to worry about it, cause i worry ALLOT about him. If it gets worse starts to look infected or something than get a second opinion. It doesnt sound like cherry eye so thats good.

Good Luck :)
Reply:If your vet is unsure (especially if you're unsure about your vet's lack of confidence), you will want to take her to an eye specialist. Does your state have a University veterinary hospital? That's usually the best place to find doctors who are "up on the latest", which you will definitely want if the eye needs surgery. If you're not sure who to go to, look on the interenet for a local all breed or bulldog club. They usually know who all the best vet specialists in the area are.
Reply:My aunt has an English bulldog and had something similar happen but it seamed to happen within about 2 days a red bump and then his eye actually popped. she had to put in a glass eye. and he is blind in that eye (obviously, right)

I would suggest looking up a vet who specializes in English Bulldogs, you might have better luck getting a diagnosis.
Reply:Would suggest seeing another vet,but in the meantime you can purchase a med called Terramcin ophthalmic ointment at any local feed store and use as directed. If the eye turns white or cloudy, this pup could become blind. The meds above will help your pet if it is just inflamed from debre.

It only needs to be pollinated if you want a seed. Otherwise, they can just look pretty, not be pollinated, not produce seeds.

Is the gerbera daisy a annual or a perennial?

I bought a few of these a few years ago and one keeps coming back every year, however, at lowes today I saw some and the pot said annual. I thought annuals only last the season...do they have both types of gerbera daisies?

Is the gerbera daisy a annual or a perennial?
They vary but most are Z8 perennial and annual in colder areas. RScott
Reply:I believe they have both types. But usually it's an annual. Annuals do only last one season. (But if they are protected throughout the winter, and depending where you live they can come back) :)
Reply:What RSct said. Mine are sprouting - yay! spring!
Reply:Gerber daisies are annual in climates where it freezes hard every year. In moderate climates they are perennial, as well as a host of other flowers that are the same. I have read that if you dig them in the fall in a big clump of soil, wrap them in damp newspapers and keep them in a basement or area where they will stay cold but not freeze, and plant them out in the spring when the apple trees bloom, you will be able to carry them over from year to year in a colder climate.

Why does Daisy stay with Tom in The Great Gatsby?

This is my essay question:

Given the extremely negative light in which Tom is portrayed throughout the novel, why might Daisy choose to remain with him instead of leaving him for Gatsby? Give examples from the novel to support your paper.

Why does Daisy stay with Tom in The Great Gatsby?
Daisy, although she loved Gatsby, had a comfortable life with Tom. She was a dreamer, yes, but wouldn't leave him. She was too idealistic.
Reply:It was during a time in her life when she feared things. She was very discomforted in knowing that someone else liked her genit*ls in a way much like Tom. For Tom himself had the same genit*ls as Daisy
Reply:She stayed with Tom because he was an intelligent, hardworking person who did his own homework, instead of shirking responsibility by asking strangers on the internet to do it for him.
Reply:She stayed with Tom because she found out about the pirates, and the chests of rubies and diamonds in the basement.
Reply:because she is gealous
Reply:Tom had never let her down, Gatsby did. Though he pined over her for years and years, Tom was always there. He knew how to fix the horrible situation she got herself into. There was no consistancy with Gatsby and she got that with Tom.

I have a daisy plant. It blooms yellow daisies. Its in a pot. Why are the leaves curling at the ends?

I've had to spray an insecticide to kill a white fungus and to eliminate green inch worms. I thought this may have something to do with the leaves curling. But, now I don't think so, because I haven't used the spray in a few weeks. The leaves are still curling. The plant is in a big pot. So there is plenty of room for the roots. And the plant recieves plenty of sun light. There are other daisy plants in my neighborhood. The leaves aren't curled at the ends. So I know it is not natural for this to occur. The leaves are green like their suppose to be. New leaves are appearing everyday. I add shultzs plant food to the water, when I water the plant. I water around every 5 days.

I have a daisy plant. It blooms yellow daisies. Its in a pot. Why are the leaves curling at the ends?
The flower pot may be too big--sometimes when the pot is too big for the plant, the leaves will dry and curl at the tips. It has to do with the quality of soil becoming poor because the plant is not large enough to sustain the proper chemical balance--reducing the soil quality. I suggest that you transplant it into a smaller pot.

Can a gerbera daisy live in the house through the winter?

I brought a gerbers daisy in before the frost last fall- It was growing well then just died last week[ Feb. 15]

Can a gerbera daisy live in the house through the winter?
Indoors, mist the foliage once or twice a week during the winter. Avoid misting open blooms. In our climate, they aren't usually kept over the winter, so they aren't repotted. When grown in a greenhouse, they are repotted in spring. When temperatures get much over 70º, sometimes they will wilt even if they have adequate moisture. They can be brought inside in the winter, but they need to be kept cool. between 45-70 degrees

What does the funeral of the Great GAtsby demonstrate about each of the folloing characters: Daisy and Tom?

What does the funeral of Gatsby demonstrate about each of the following characeters: Daisy and Tom, Wofsheim, Mr. Gatz, Owl Eyes, and Nick.

What does the funeral of the Great GAtsby demonstrate about each of the folloing characters: Daisy and Tom?
Daisy - Though she loved Jay, she loved her freedom and rich life more--she did not attend the funeral or even call or send flowers.

Tom - Set Gatsby up by telling George that Gatsby was the one who ran Mertle down

Wofsheim - Had always said to care about people while they're living--not dead--he did not attend funeral

Mr. Gatz - loved his son, was proud of him--but told Nick that Jay had helped him out over the years - That doesn't appear to be true--he did attend the funeral

Nick - truly cared about Jay, realized that Daisy and Tom were materialistic creeps, and decided to go back to where he came from

Why do so many cars in Spain have daisy bumper stickers?

When traveling in Spain I noticed many many cars had a "daisy" decal. Is there a significance to this logo? It was too common to not have an explanation behind it.

Why do so many cars in Spain have daisy bumper stickers?
Okay, here's what it is: some of them have to do with a brand of italian clothing(guru), the others a windsurfing brand and the rest are just there because now it is popular to have it.

They say it started in large part due to Fernando Alonso a formula one driver who had this symbol on his uniform.

At this point it is just a trend or fashionable. Everyone has them so more people keep putting them on their cars!

I read this information from a spanish article in elmundo but gleaned the important facts. You can look it over yourself if you speak spanish!

Taking care of a gerber daisy?

I had a gerber daisy with 3 pretty blooms. I keep the soil moist and one day sat the plant outside for a few hours. Now it looks as if I have killed it. The leaves are still green but look wilted. What can I do to help it come back, or what do I do with it now.

Taking care of a gerber daisy?
I have 3 gerbers in a large pot that is outside. If it gets way to hot and sunny, the flowers tend to wilt and I need to water it more often. Occasionally the flowers do wilt and need to be pinched off, so more can grow. Get some of those bark pieces that you see covering the ground in the parks or other places that have public flower beds, (I forgot what this stuff is called) put that on top of the soil, so the sun doesn't hit the soil directly and dry it out faster, it hits the bark pieces instead. About twice a month water with some plant food ( I use the miricle grow powder-mix one tablespoon to a gallon of water) or whatever you use to fertilize and feed. If you have direct hot sun all the time, you may have to move them under a little cover, (under a porch awning?) so they might get morning and evening sun but not direct noon sun. Good luck!

Can anyone send pictures of potted Gerbera daisy as center pieces and a bouquet?

I am planning to create my own centerpieces for my wedding reception. I plan to make 15 or more centerpieces. I want to keep the Gerbera daisy in a pot. I also want to make a bouquet. Does any one have any ideas on how to make them. The wedding will be August 2, 2008. When should I plan to make the centerpieces.

That's the potted gerbera daisy--of course you can add as many as you'd like.

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=h...

This is cool--a bride made her own bouquets as well--and she give instructions.
Reply:I would be weary about using gerber daisies in your bouquet. They don't last very well and might start dropping before the ceremony. I would make sure you ask a florist about the flowers you intend to use in the bouquet to make sure they will survive and look fresh throughout your wedding and pictures. Also, making potted center pieces you could probably do ahead of time but making your own bouquet might be difficult as it would have to be done the day before your wedding and that day is pretty much the busiest day ever. Good luck getting it all done.
Reply:I had a friend make mine. She made them the night before the wedding and put them in the refrigerator. Mine were all roses which keep a bit longer. I worked in a flower shop and daisies don't keep quite as long. Seeing as it's August I'd make sure they stay in a cool place until needed---run the a/c in the car.

What is the history of short shorts ( daisy dukes) in relationship to the history of womans clothing?

Hello I need someone to direct my to a fashion site that has the history of the design and make of female short shorts ( aka Daisy Dukes) I know who wore them and in what show ( DOH ) but I need to know more about how they started and how did they evolve. Saying search google is a tough one because I don't know where to look. If you know anything about short shorts please please answer.. The last 2 answers, while trying to be helpful, needed more specific information on where to find the information. All I need is a few pages on the history of womans shorts.

What is the history of short shorts ( daisy dukes) in relationship to the history of womans clothing?
I think short shorts just came out in the 70's. I wear them, and when people comment....I just say "Shorts are short"!
Reply:Lil' Abner and Daisy, these cartoons came out when my mom was a teen. She was born 1913. I have pics of her with short shorts. I had them in the 50's. That Daisy is where Daisy Duke's name was derived from. My theory is-- they were long legged jeans for the winter and a few years went by they started to wear at the knees and then they were cut off for the summer. That is what my 71 yr. old sister used to do. She still wears short shorts. Her past time is roller-skating and she always wanted freedom to move with her legs.

I want to dry out a yellow daisy and preserve the color.?

How do you dry out a daisy [or any kind of flower for that matter] without destroying the color?

I want to dry out a yellow daisy and preserve the color.?
Go to some place like JoAnn Fabrics and get some silica gel. It will preserve the flower in the state it is in now. Any craft store has this stuff. It's like little beads and you pour it onto the item you want to preserve, it drys out the moisture and you have the item dryed and preserved. You will need a nice bowl or jar probably glass to do this. Silica gel is great for preserving things.
Reply:you can't preserve the colour 100% as it's depedant on the flower being alive, do what people have been doing for 100's of years and place it in some tissue paper and stick it in a large book for a few months.
Reply:Do you want to preserve it whole, so that it looks like a fresh flower? If so, use silica gel crystals. You can find them at any larger craft store. You pour a small layer into a container with a lid (like a plastic food storage box, or a cookie tin. Then you put the flower, removed from the stem, right side up in the silica gel. Then slowly pour the crystals over the flower until it is completely covered. Put the lid on the box and wait for a couple of days. Then check it to see how it's doing. Within less than a week, the silica gel crystals will have removed all the moisture from the flower. This method really does a good job of preserving the form and color of a flower.
Reply:You can go to your local craft store. They sell silica crystals. You lay the flower gently in and cover with that and let it sit for about a week. Also there is a material for delicate flowers called oolitic sand. place the material in a closed container with the flower

What is the best way to daisy chain 4 switches?

I have 4 3com switches here that are going to be at the core of our network. I'm trying to figure out how I would daisy chain them together. Do I take one main switch and just link to the other three? Or.. Do I just go from one to the other straight down? The first thing I tried caused a redundant loop and the packets went crazy.. It was funny =)

What is the best way to daisy chain 4 switches?
The loop was detected because the packets where leaving one port on the switch and coming back in on another. If you are going to connect switches together, you have some options. I dont recommend that you daisy chain because you will more than likely cause a bottleneck on cable that runs from switch to switch. If the switch does not allow for them to be connected by the backplane (special connections in the back of the switch) then I would connected in hub and spoke model (like a tree). You start with a root switch and plug the three switches into the root switch, one in each port. As the root switch's ports are filled up, then you move down to the next layer and continue the same process. Some switches allow for trunking so that you can actually combine several ports to create one "virtual" trunk line to carry the data. That way you dont bottleneck on the port.

Make sure you can turn on the Spanning Tree Protocol so that if you create a loop the future, the switch can automatically shut down one of the ports. This is to prevent you network from comming down in the event of a loop.
Reply:Plug a cable from a numbered port on switch 1 to the uplink port on switch two. Plug a cable from a numbered port on switch 2 to the uplink port on switch 3. Plug a cable from a numbered port on sw 3 to the uplink port on switch 4.

All done :)
Reply:Don't daisy-chain them straight down, connect three switches to one "main" switch if that is your pnly option. Be aware that you may need to use crossover cables depending on the switch model. Do not create any loops.
Reply:Connect in kind of a straight line. Don't loop. That produces multiple routes and unless you know VLANS, trunking, and spanning tree, you'll have problems. Just connect all four from one to another in a daisy chain. If you plan to break up the traffic and connect multiple routers to them, you'll need to manage the switches and use VLANS and Trunking. Spanning Tree is for the loop to provide redundancy.

What is the characteristics of life for the organism daisy?
Bellis perennis is a common European species of daisy, often considered the archetypal species of that name, though many other related plants share the name; to distinguish it from other daisies, it is sometimes qualified as Common Daisy, or occasionally English daisy. It is native to western, central and northern Europe.

It is a herbaceous plant with short creeping rhizomes and small rounded or spoon shaped evergreen leaves 2–5 cm long. The flowerheads are 2–3 cm in diameter, with white ray florets (often tipped red) and yellow disc florets; they are produced on leafless stems 2–10 cm (rarely 15 cm) tall.

It is thought that the name "daisy" is a corruption of "day's eye", because the whole head closes at night and opens in the morning.

It is not affected by mowing and is therefore often considered a weed on lawns, though many also value the appearance of the flowers. Several cultivars and hybrids have been selected with much larger flowerheads up to 5–6 cm diameter and with light pink to purple-red ray florets.

Getting a daisy plant to flower?

I have a daisy plant which came with flowers, but after they died, no more grew back. The plant is doing great, but no flowers. My local florist suggested a time release food especially for flowering plants, but still no action. Any suggestions?

Getting a daisy plant to flower?
IT sounds like you need to increase the acidy in the soil by using a lime fertilizer

obviously the time release isn't working so it must

be the soil.

Try a pH soil tester at any garden store and test for yourself you will find you have to increase the acidy
Reply:fertilizer
Reply:I don't think daisies need fertilizer. Maybe you are just making the plant good and healthy with fertilizer, but if you would stop you might get flowers. Good luck!
Reply:There are oodles of plants called daisy. Is it a Margarette, a Shasta, a gerbera, coreopsos? Is it potted outside? These plants are not related and all need fairly specific things.
Reply:If you are adding more %26amp; more fertilizer, you may be adding too much nitrogen.

Choose a fertilizer with a high middle number.

The first %26amp; last numbers should be very low.

Remember flowering plants also enjoy a good dose of sunshine.

Is it possible to daisy chain Wireless routers to make one large network?

Hi,

I was wondering if it was possible to daisy chain wireless routers so if you have one one one side of a large building, you can run an ethernet cable to the other side where there is no reception and daisy chain 2 wireless routers of the same kind (802.11 g).

Thanks and I appreciate it.

Is it possible to daisy chain Wireless routers to make one large network?
No! 2 routers will conflict. You will need a wireless access point, this connects to the router by cable and provides additional wireless cover. You can add further access points if you still can't cover the whole building.
Reply:Yes you can but disable the DHCP on the second router and enable it only on the Primary Router.

If you don't want to run a long cable, you can use a wireless repeater which will rebroadcast the signal from the first router without a cable between them. DD-WRT routers with v24 firmware have this ability.

http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Sup...

You can also use a powerline adapter like this, which uses your buildings AC power line infrastructure as an ethernet cable.

This kit includes 1 satellite WAP

http://www.netgear.com/Products/Powerlin...

You can buy other satellites too.

http://www.netgear.com/Products/Powerlin...
Reply:I agree with the answer above sounds like you want to set up your own little wirless mesh.

Just turn off dhcp in one of the routers you want to use as your AP should work fine.

Reply:The daisy is part of the Rudebackia family of plants. They come in many forms, colors, and shapes. Go to your local library or nursery and look for Wyman's Garden Ency. It contains a wide source of info on the daisy family. Good Luck.

What is some character traits Daisy in the novel the great gatsby?

author is f.scott fitzgerald. and for lit. i need to find some 3-4 really good traits for Daisy. and i need enough detail to be able to support that they have that trait. thanks for helping!

What is some character traits Daisy in the novel the great gatsby?
Daisy's a bit like what she says her daughter ought to be, her opinion of what it's best for a woman to be in life:

a beautiful fool.

She's a bit fickle. She fell in love with Gatsby and promised to wait for him. But her intense desire to be loved leads her to marry her husband, Tom.

She's wry and somewhat cynical.

She also behaves insipidly to mask her pain at her husband’s constant infidelity.
Reply:Lol my teacher just had us read this book. I kinda liked it actually, it gets good near the end. So Daisy has the character traits of being really superficial in relationships, a pleasure seeker in all forms of it, non-carng for the past and how it affects the future, and truly having little value for the morals of marriage. That's what I would put. Keep reading, later.

In reference to Alice in Wonderland, is there a daisy field in Washington state?

I've always wanted to go to a large daisy field but I have no idea where to find one. I live in Washington state. Where are they usually found?

In reference to Alice in Wonderland, is there a daisy field in Washington state?
It's Spring, so now is a good time to try to find them. Daisies often like open areas such as meadows, stream banks and open forest at mid to high elevation and like it to be damp. However, my feeling is that you are probably unlikely to find a field full of them in WA ... they are more likely to do that in drier (even semi-desert) areas.
Reply:In the country, they primarily grow wild...I seen alot in Oklahoma

How can i take care of a gerbera daisy?

my husband give me a daisy to take care of it but i ' m not realy sure how. I don't want to plant it in the ground.

How can i take care of a gerbera daisy?
Gerberas do best in full sun, which means at least 6 full hours of direct sunlight a day.

Water regularly in the warmer months, but don't overwater as this can cause root and stem rot. Always allow the soil to dry out before watering again. Reduce watering in the cooler months. Try to keep the flowers and foliage dry to prevent fungal disease.

Fertilize with a liquid fertilizer every two weeks during the flowering period to encourage lots of growth and flowers.

Regularly remove dead and diseased leaves and dead flowers should be cut as close as possible to the base of the plant.

Hope this helps, good luck!
Reply:Gerberas do best in the ground in full sun as Silv said. Tend to get leggy indoors. They're perennial in zone 8. Fertilize every 2-3 weeks.

What are the medicinal properties of a daisy? In what forms should it be used?

It says in "Brothers in Arms" by Margaret Weis %26amp; Don Perrin that the daisy, in form of an ointment, is spread on wounds to keep them from putrefying. This is a fantasy novel, so I don't know.

What are the medicinal properties of a daisy? In what forms should it be used?
Daisies are a popular domestic remedy with a wide range of applications. They are a traditional wound herb and are also said to be especially useful in treating delicate and listless children. Recent research (1994) has been looking at the possibility of using the plant in HIV therapy. The herb is mildly anodyne, antispasmodic, antitussive, demulcent, digestive, emollient, expectorant, laxative, ophthalmic, purgative and tonic. The fresh or dried flowering heads are normally used. An infusion is used in the treatment of catarrh, rheumatism, arthritis, liver and kidney disorders, as a blood purifier etc. The daisy once had a great reputation as a cure for fresh wounds. An ointment made from the leaves is applied externally to wounds, bruises etc... whilst a distilled water is used internally to treat inflammatory disorders of the liver. Chewing the fresh leaves is said to be a cure for mouth ulcers. Daisies also have a reputation for effectiveness in treating breast cancers. The flowers and leaves are normally used fresh in decoctions, ointments and poultices. A strong decoction of the roots has been recommended for the treatment of scorbutic complaints and eczema, though it needs to be taken for some time before its effect becomes obvious. A mild decoction may ease complaints of the respiratory tract, rheumatic pains and painful or heavy menstruation. The plant, harvested when in flower, is used as a homeopathic remedy. Its use is especially indicated in the treatment of bruising etc.
Reply:It is used both as an expectorant (cough) and an astringent (constricts tissues), which is probably what they use it for in the story.

I've heard about it steeped in a tea, added to skin products for toner, and compresses for wounds.

How old does my daughter need to be in order to become a Daisy?

What does your daughter's Daisy troupe do?

How old does my daughter need to be in order to become a Daisy?
I'm pretty sure when she's in Kindergarten. Jeez, I hope your daughter can become one. When I was in Kindergarten (18 years ago), a lot of girls signed up, including my twin and I, but no one wanted to be the scout leader. Very sad. I got to be a Brownie the next year (unfortunately, that scout leader was nasty and nuts, so we quit in 4th grade), but I had *really* wanted to be a Daisy. Oh well. Um, my mother loved Girl Scouts and had a great experience, we just got the short end of the stick.

***Note to all Scout Leaders and Would Be Scout Leaders: Unless you own a great deal of land, sleeping in tents in your backyard IS NOT camping! While it may be considered fun and "camping" for families, it is not acceptable in Girl Scouts.
Reply:no sure dont just be herself
Reply:5-6 and she has to be in kindergarden. No I don't have a daughter but, I was a Girl Scout for years. ( 1979-1992)
Reply:Kindergarten, so 5 yrs old.

Does anyone know where I can get grant money for a Daisy Girl Scout Troop?

Starting up a new Daisy Scout Troop in a town with no Girl Scouts at all. Need money to aid the Low-Income families and to ask for as little from them for activities and field trips.

Does anyone know where I can get grant money for a Daisy Girl Scout Troop?
First, do not contact the United Way without speaking to your council first. Most councils will only allow you to seek sponsorship from community businesses %26amp; organizations. If you receive a gift of $250 or more, it must go through your council first for tax reasons. Also, your council probably has a financial aid program set up to help girls afford activities, uniforms %26amp; books. As for field trips, Daisy travel activities must be local and no longer than a day. As a Daisy leader, your best bet is to find free activities for the girls such as visit a firehouse, contact local chain stores that might have GS programs in place (home depot, petco, mcDonalds, supermarket), go on a nature hunt, have a policeman come to a meeting, clean up a park. Always remember that these girls are still young and have many years of GSing ahead of them. Don't try to do too much the first year or they will get bored fast and you will burn yourself out.
Reply:Hi Girl Scout Troop 855! I am a Cadette girl scout. You will have so much fun once you get to go on field trips and experience the joy of helping out in your community. I certainly do enjoy it! If you need money to get the troop started, you should contact your local girl scout council.( i.e The Girl Scout Council of Southwestern Connecticut). Also, if you have a girl scout supply store near your area, you could ask someone there for a person to contact. You could simply just look for one of the supply stores phone #'s in the phone book. Lastly, you could try to see if there is another older troop in your area and ask them for advice! Never give up hope because when you truly need them, caring people won't be far away. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Try the United Way. I know that they help the Boy Scouts so I would imagine they would help the Girl Scouts. Also appeal to the PTA of the local elementary school. They have fund raisers for everything and this could be one of their projects especially if this will be the first in town. Good luck.
Reply:Alot of scout troops are under the umbrella of a church organization. When I ran a scout troop and we needed funds, we went to the Catholic Church that sponsored us...ya know, where we met. May be a shot. Also, I think you can get funds from either the public school system the girls attend or the recreation department of the town the troop is in. Good luck!

What is a nice DAISY ROCK GUITAR for a 13 year old beginner girl guitarist?

Well I started taking lessons about a month ago %26amp; I love playing the guitar. My parents said I could get an affordable daisy rock. I want it to be acoustic or acoustic electric.

I already know about the pink debutante but i don't really like it. Any other suggestions?

What is a nice DAISY ROCK GUITAR for a 13 year old beginner girl guitarist?
Yeah dont get a daisy rock, they suck,

If you want an affordable acoustic-electric that suits a young woman I would suggest an Applause, which is the lower end of the Ovation series, it is small and light, has decent tone, and a unique shape (its round whereas almost every other acoustic is "squared")

They have an overall female quaity without being "girly"

I personally think that a pink flower guitar is kind of degrading to girls, like your guitars should look like toys or something?

good luck with your playing, just stick with it!

Does anyone know where there is a wild daisy field?

I have always wanted to run barefoot in a wild daisy field. I have seen pictures in magazines, so i know such fields exist, i just really want to find one. Has anyone seen one?

Does anyone know where there is a wild daisy field?
If you can get to North Dakota in three weeks you can run naked, barefoot and pregnant through mine. Seriously, I have an area about 200x200 feet naturalized with chamomile, a close look-alike to Shasta daisies. In the eastern part of the state farmers grow thousands of acres of flowers for the seed companies. A fantastic sight!! If you were to ask permission, a famer would probably let you fufill your fantasy in any color you like.
Reply:Well, if you don't find one, make one! Get some wild flower/daisy seeds plant all over your yard, let them grow out, and run to your heart's content :O)

Can someone tell me ideas for a daisy themed kitchen?

I want to decorate my apartment's kitchen in a daisy theme and I wanted some creative ideas. I don't want it to look countryish but just flowery and happy.

Can someone tell me ideas for a daisy themed kitchen?
Hi Carolyn, again to give it a unique look work along the ideas suggested for the bathroom.

Reply:Well you will need fresh daisies in a vase, either a white vase rr green would look nice. Maybe daisy dish towel and a daisy cookie jar. You don't want to go too crazy.
Reply:a few flowers on hadles like cabinets and he fridge. flower air freshener. maybe a blue ceiling and yellow walls with green on the botton? daisies on the wall?
Reply:Google"Daisy Kitchens" for some ideas. You can get dishes, cups, glasses, and towels with that print and of course, curtains. Paint the walls a light green for a more soothing look than yellow.
Reply:Paint the walls like a sky blue or pale yellow %26amp; then let it dry %26amp; put like, daisy wall stickers or get a border with daises.
Reply:Here are some good articles that offer great tips on doing your kitchen in a flower theme. After reading them, you'll get an idea on the angle that you wanna go:

Reply:The walls should be painted yellow. This way it wouldn't look too tacky. Next, you should have some type of daisy/flower bulletin board and or counter. And, you could have some cooking mittens daises. And those utensils, they would look cute. Lastly make the stove and the fridge white. And the rest either white or yellow. That would look so cute!
Reply:what daisy colour? use hues of that color for walls and backsplash. then you can use curtains and placemats with daisies. trick: use the theme for decors coz you can easily change them if you got tired of it.
Reply:uhmm

paint it yellow.

%26amp; get daisy wallpaper :D
Reply:ummmmmm.....daisy....flowers...
Reply:You could look for curtains or a small area rug with daisy designs - those are the obvious choices. Some people like to color coordinate their appliances; for example, you could look for yellow and/or white small appliances (such as toasters, blenders, etc.). Depending on what your landlord lets you do with the space, you might also look for a wallpaper border with daisy designs or even stencil daisies on the walls.
Reply:You could do bright green leaf handles for the cupboards and little fake grass mats in front of the stove or something. It would be cute to keep spatulas and whisks and utensils in little flower pots. Bumble-bee magnets?
Reply:you should make a daisy clock with petals and stuff. and also some diasys on the window sill. just add splashes of yellow but use mostly white. that will look better when you add daisy stuff. i love that idea too. i think it would be cool to have daisy glasses or daisy oven mitts. if u can find them. daisy clock is my favorite
Reply:It will be a challenge to get a daisy look without getting a country look. When I think daisies, I usually think gingham checks as well.

One little thing you could do is look for daisy flower drawer knobs for the cabinets. You could also add silk flower swags with daisies over any kitchen windows or even door sills. I would think you would want to use bright yellow, white, and/or blue for your color palette. You can also probably find floor rugs, kitchen towels, placemats, and napkins with the daisy theme, and possibly even plates or serving trays/bowls in flower petal shapes.
Reply:ge yellow curtins,

here is a link

Reply:Clean white cabinets and a tiled back splash. Do Most tiles white, with like every fourth tile being flowery. Then do some cute pictures with white backgrounds, daisies and white crackled paint frames. Sheer white curtains, and always a vase with fresh daisies.
Reply:Daisy colored paint, Daisy's in a vase, but never stick daisy wallpaper.
Reply:Just pick roses because they are very lovely and you said you want something flowery.

Who knows how to make a daisy chain out of beads?

I need step by step instructions on how to make the old fashioned daisy chain bracelets. I just want the style where the flowers connect to each other, no leaves or stems.

How do you dry a daisy without turning it brown?

i have a project and i want to put a daisy on my bristol board but it will shrivil up in a while and i want it to look fresh. how do i preserve it without turning it brown or it shriviling up?

How do you dry a daisy without turning it brown?
Hey Shanny,

You can take a bag of Silica (sand) and put a layer in a small bowl. put the daisy upside down into the silica, then slowly cover the entire daisy. This will cause the moisture in the daisy to be absorbed into the silica, leaving the daisy dried out and not brown.

Here are some web sites that have other methods you might find less messy, and fairly easy to follow.
Reply:try pressing it in a book; take a book and open it to a page. line the page so the colors won't 'bleed' onto the book. then put the flower in and close the book. it should take a while, maybe a week? but i'm pretty sure it'll work.

Is it safe to daisy chain surge protectors?

Basically, my house is old and his limited number of outlets around the room. Is it safe to daisy chain a surge protector so I can reach my other devices across the room?

Is it safe to daisy chain surge protectors?
NO!!! If you do that then you are pulling too much power through the first to get to the rest and last. It is best to use an outlet very close to your devices and there should be one, after all how do you use them if there is not an outlet near?Just be sure to leave one outlet on the surge protector unused. It is not even a good idea to use more than one surge protector on the same circuit.
Reply:With all those open outlets you will be tempted to fill as many as possable. This will draw too much current through the circuit, overloading the wires in the wall, catching them on fire, and then burning the house down.

Not my idea of how to spend the perfect Labor Day!
Reply:The primary concern is that you don't exceed the capacity of the 1st power strip. They usually have a load capacity of 15 amps and have a 16 guage wire feeding them. The biggest factor to consider is what you are plugging in. Any kind of appliance (particularly ones with heaters like coffeemakers, hotplates, toasters or toaster ovens) or microwaves, refrigerators and the like use a tremendous amount of power and should not be on a power strip at all, let alone a daisy chained one. If you are plugging in phone chargers and ipods, then the load will remain low and you will probably not have a problem. Make sure that the 1st one in the line has a mini breaker that will trip if it is overloaded. If it trips, remove some of the load.

My dog Daisy has been sick with lymphoma and her vulva is very enlarged and her eyes have blood surrounding?

them. She is a cocker spaniel and they have big eyes. A membrane seems to be almost covering her eyes and it is bloody. Her vulva is bleeding....not alot but some also. Should I euthanize Daisy. She did not get up all morning and I feel like she is just lying there waiting. What should I do.....this is the hardest decision I have ever had to make. Thanks for all your help.

My dog Daisy has been sick with lymphoma and her vulva is very enlarged and her eyes have blood surrounding?
I am so sorry for both you and Daisy. Daisy is lying and waiting for you to do what you must ultimately do. You must be going through hell, however you can stop her suffering. Trying to extend her life is just extending her painful existence. Afterwards you will be distraught and your distress will last for a long time. You have obviously looked after you beloved dog, now you must let her go.

Take care.
Reply:well if you feel that she is not getting better and that she is in pain.. i would have to say the best thing for her is to put her down, i know it is hard but i had to do it with my dog. she was only getting worse and she was suffering so my family made a decision to put her down.
Reply:We went through chemo with one of our for lymphoma. You need to get her to the vet immediately. I hate to be a negative Nellie, but prepare yourself on the way. This may be her last trip. Please don't let her lay there and suffer.
Reply:Call the vet and ask about whats going on. If it is major you should take her in and have done what needs to be done. How old is Daisy? I hope that she'll be allright, best of luck.
Reply:if you think shes in pain , do whats best for her ,even if its hard to do

sorry about your dog
Reply:Go to the vet and then see what they say. Then if you can, let her go.

What are some different ways to make a daisy chain?

I know how to make one by slitting the stem of one daisy and threading the stem of another daisty through the whole, but that doesn't last very long and the daisies aren't very close together. I heard there's another way to do it, where the end product resembles a "caterpillar" of daisies. Anybody know how do to it?

What are some different ways to make a daisy chain?
I've seen people do this before: pinch the stems off the flowers, make a hole in the centre of each one and thread one really long daisy through them all!

Is this what you're thinking of? It does kinda look like a white furry caterpillar! You couldn't really make a necklace like htis though...
Reply:That is the only way I know

It is possible to grow daisy flowers in a small pot or a cup?

i have some daisy flower seeds that i want to use for an activity with my daisy scouts. i was thinking of having them plant them in a small pot or a styrofoam cup. let me know what you think.

It is possible to grow daisy flowers in a small pot or a cup?
Be sure to space the seeds out in the cup and make sure non are touching eachother. make sure they are the small daisys and not the large ones, the large ones won't stand a chance in a small pot or cup.
Reply:sure they will grow make sure that you have holes in the bottom for drainage and use a good seed raising mix
Reply:Depends on the kind of daisies you are talking about. If you mean the tall daisies (over one foot) the answer is no, they won't successfully grow in a small pot of cup. If you are talking about the miniature daisies that are only two or three inches high, they would do very well in a small container. Nice idea for your daisy scouts!
Reply:Yes, you can plant them in a small pot, but make sure not to put a big number of seeds in one pot.
Reply:well, everything is possible if u try.
