Shasta Daisies might be a good guess.
There are several other daisy-like flowers that are perennials, including:

Reply:Are you possibly thinking of Chrysanthemum Snow Lady or Rudbeckia Goldstrum (black eyed susan)?
Both are daisy like. There's Echinacea as well...the coneflowers.
