Is it ok to plant Alaska Shasta Daisy right now before winter?

Live in southern California.

Is it ok to plant Alaska Shasta Daisy right now before winter?
Sally M has the right answer.

Yes ~ A-OKaY. Absolutely!

Before Winter is the BeST time to plant! Bar none. Most people don't realize what a "jump" on life plants gets by being planted in the Fall, rather than waiting until Spring. RE Perennials: If there is but oNe garden tip to be given, "Fall is the BeST time to plant", is it.

Don't wait. Plant it NoW. You'll be GLaD you did.
Reply:It is a great time to plant any type of perennial right now. The Shasta daisy seed doesn't have to be planted to deep, about 1/8" under the soil and water. The winter snow should take care of the rest. The good news they will flower next spring around the beginning of June ..............Good Luck
Reply:I live in Australia and I would Plant Shatsa daisy in Autumn (Fall) so I would say you could plant it now
Reply:The thing with shasta seeds is that as the plant dies and the flower heads dry up the wind blows and throws the seeds around-so some of the seeds go into the dirt and they seem to start growing in the spring when it is time. The best thing you could do is throw the seeds in the ground and cover with a lite layer of soil mark it with a flower marker or a popcycle stick and watch to see if they come up.If they start commin up just protect them if the weather gets bad.I live in Montana so mine generally dont start comming up until april. If you really like the shasta daisys you should try the white coneflower they bloom in the fall and they are very striking too! Good Luck!
Reply:I would wait until the spring time, say the middle of February or so. Even though Socal winters are rather mild, you don't want them germinating too early and then getting damaged with a torrential downpour or a sudden late season frost. That is if you are planting by seed. This will give you nice color from the middle of spring onward...
